"Reading makes all other learning possible. We have to get books into our children's hands early and often."
"At the dawn of the 21st century, where knowledge is literally power, where it unlocks the gates of opportunity and success, we all have responsibilities as parents, as librarians, as educators, as politicians, and as citizens to instill in our children a love of reading so that we can give them a chance to fulfill their dreams." Barack Obama

Focus on the Alabama Library Media Handbook - "What it means for us"
While the handbook is in definite need of a facelift and update-- it is still the guiding document that has been approved by the Alabama State Board of Education. This means that it is the guiding document for our practice-- It is worth taking the time to read. In the past week- the handbook has proved useful for the following situations:
Q1 - How much space is required for a library? (Answer 1 Pages 34-40 Section 6.9)
Q2 - What are my responsibilities regarding Library Enhancement budgeting? Answer 2 - page7 (Lots of other answers to some of our "pressing" questions on this page.) :)
Q3 - What type of schedule should I have? Answer 3 - Page 15 (Blended is my preferred)
