Our Mission

The mission of the WPS Performing Arts program is to prepare students to be artistically literate citizens and for lifelong engagement in the arts. Through the cyclical artistic process of creating, performing, responding and connecting to and through artistic works, students will become creative, collaborative, and persistent problem solvers in the global community.

Curriculum mapping continues

We are wrapping up curriculum maps for general music K-8 and Instrumental music 4-6. Stage I and II materials will be ready for summer planning and lesson development. Worcester Public Schools announces a partnership with the Lincoln Center for Education

Professional Learning in and Through the Arts!

Through the generosity of the Manton Foundation, several WPS teachers will spend a week this summer participating in the Summer Fellowship Program focusing on arts immersion and imaginative thinking to deepen understanding across content areas. Burncoat Meets Motown the Musical

As part of the Hanover Theatre's Adopt a School Program, cast members of Motown the Musical visited Burncoat High and rehearsed a "flash mob" number and answered questions about the life and preparation of a professional performing artist.

Awards and Accolades

Nancy Caswell receives the Frederick Reilly Award

The Educational Association of Worcester recently presented Mrs. Nancy Caswell the Reilly Award for her tireless work on behalf of the teachers and students of the Worcester Public Schools. The Award is named for the first president of the EAW. Thank you Nancy!
