"FROZEN IN TIME" CONCERT
The "FROZEN in Time" Highlands High School Winter Choral Concert on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7:00 PM will feature songs from Disney's FROZEN as well as a tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the World War I Christmas Truce. Young children will enjoy meet 'n greets with Princess Anna, Queen Elsa, Olaf and Kristof! Admission is free; donations appreciated!

BLOOD DRIVE

Student Council will hold a Blood Drive in honor of Highlands HS student Kelly Smith on Friday, Dec. 12 from 8 AM to 1 PM in the Highlands High School gym. Students should discuss donation with their parents. Students 16 years old must have consent from a parent; Students 17 years and older do not need consent. The Blood Drive is open to the Community. FOOD DRIVE
Highlands Student Council, Varsity Cheerleaders, and Gridiron are collecting non-perishable food items for the local AVAC Food Bank through Friday, Dec. 12. Each grade has a designated teacher to drop items off to, or community members may bring food items directly to the Main Office during normal operational hours.

ELEMENTARY BASKETBALL SKILLS SESSIONS
Highlands Varsity Basketball's Coach Stosh and the Varsity & JV basketball players are hosting basketball skills sessions for students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 on Dec. 14 & 21, and Jan. 4, 11 & 18. Sessions will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM in the High School gym. This is a free program designed to enhance skills and basketball knowledge. No signups are necessary.

PRE-K OPENING
The Highlands Pre-K Counts program for 4-year olds has an opening for one student in the PM session and the waiting list. Contact Jaye Misejka at jmisejka@goldenrams.com or 724-226-2400, ext. 4518.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED THIS SPRING

Host families will be needed in the Spring for AFS International Days. Contact Kathy Harenski at 724-226-3390 or kharenski@verizon.net if you are interested in hosting an AFS student from another district overnight.


COMMUNITY & CONTESTS


Share the Warmth: Donate your gently used warm items or new items to warm those in need. Items can be dropped on the porch of 1126 Constitution Dr. in Tarentum. If you have a need for winter wear or have questions call Generations Pastor Nick Chybrzynski at 828-238-4272.


Positive Athletes: Don’t forget to send your POSITIVE ATHLETE nominee to Misty Chybrzynski at mchybrzynski@goldenrams.com. Indicate the athlete’s name, grade level, sport, and how they are being a positive athlete. Please also note the best way to contact you with questions.


Donate Your Used Specs Today: Tarentum Area Lions Club will be collecting used Eye Glasses in each district building! Send your used specs or drop them off to any school building to be recycled for those in need! Donations being accepted now!


Salvation Army Afterschool Clubs: Looking for a great afterschool program? Check out the Salvation Army Free Afterschool Clubs on Wednesdays. Transportation available by request. Contact Jared at 724-224-6310 ext. 2 to sign up! Activities offered include Open Gym from 3 – 5pm on Mondays; Kids Supper Club from 4:30 – 6:30pm on Wednesdays and Sunday School at 10 am followed by services through Noon.
