A grateful heart...
My heart is grateful for....
....all of your support and encouragement during the last few hectic days in my life. I felt like I was on about half speed while dealing with issues with my mom and Liz's new family, but all of you were very understanding and I greatly appreciate it.
...Cindy Felker, who initiated an additional parent dyslexia night and had 11 parents come. The last time she did it she had very few, so it was exciting to have a pretty good representation from among the students she serves.
....Karen and Heidi, who both stopped to render assistance Tuesday afternoon when a couple of our students were in an automobile accident. I know it was comforting to the girls, who were shaken and scared. One of our parents who drove by sent me an email to say thanks for staff members caring enough to stop and render assistance.
....Terri, who has become an invaluable team member in a very short time. She is always looking for ways to improve upon an already great program, and tackles new ideas with enthusiasm. Recently, I shared an article I had read about a school that shares their morning announcements on FB live. Terri immediately started working with Jon, and the two of them believe they have figured out how to make that happen. We are blessed by both of them, and their partnership has created great benefits for our school!
VALOR
Applications for VALOR (Vanguard Association of Learning, Observation, and Reflection) will be available in February. VALOR is a group of innovative teachers who commit to reading, learning, observing, and reflecting together. It provides teachers the opportunity to visit classrooms all over the district, be observed by peers based on group and personal goals, and receive individualized feedback from an instructional coach. The following is a list of specific information regarding the application process:
Applications (google form) will go out February 13 in an email from Dr. Doughney and will be due by 5 pm on Feb. 27. Applications will be scored by the VALOR leadership team. Scoring will be based on a rubric and input from campus principals.
Those selected to move on to the interview process will be contacted by a VALOR leadership team member, who will schedule an interview. The interview will occur on your campus during your conference period or after school.
Dr. Doughney will contact those who have been selected to be part of the 2017-18 VALOR class.
We hope to invite about 24-28 people.
