Perception in Biology Coffeetalk

When: Friday, April 15 from 1-2 pm
Where: Cox Classroom B
What: We're excited to announce that Dr. Alexander Escobar will be hosting a Coffeetalk entitled "Perception in Biology." A few more details on this fascinating topic from Dr. Escobar: Conscious subjective experiences are an intimate part of who we are, but these experiences have only recently been studied through the natural sciences. How is it that you generate your internal subject experience of vision? What are the neural correlates of consciousness? This is a very deep question and we will explore this topic through the filter of modern biology and neuroscience.

To RSVP: Sign up via OrgSync by Wednesday, April 13 at noon!

Scholar Opportunities

Usher for the Emory Honors Ceremony

When: Sunday, May 8 from 11:00-5:30 pm
Where: Glenn Memorial Auditorium
Rate: $50.00 flat fee
What: We are looking for four students to assist in set up and to serve as ushers for the Honors Ceremony this year. Since many of you will be participating in the honors program and the ceremony in future years or have friends who will be recognized as this year’s ceremony, we thought you might like the first chance at the positions. We will provide lunch on the day of the ceremony. We will also request late stay for any students living in the Emory residence halls. The actual job will include helping to set up the church auditorium (taping reserved rows, hanging directional signs, etc.). Leading up to the ceremony, you will stand at the doors to serve as ushers (giving directions, pointing out the bathrooms, directing people to the handicapped entrance, etc.). You would be welcome to join in the festivities at the reception. Afterwards, we may need your help removing signs and other materials from Glenn.

Please contact Dr. Jason Ciejka (jciejka@emory.edu) by email immediately if you are interested or have questions.
