FAMILY ORIENTATION NIGHT
Will your child be at a new school next year? Here are some initial opportunities to visit the school and to get to know the school community!
New Family Orientation Night
As our HSE School District is preparing for the redistricting transition, we are excited to announce a New Family Orientation Night. If your child will be attending FCE, DES, or SCE next year please join the staff and community at Fall Creek Elementary, Durbin Elementary, or Sand Creek Elementary from 5:00PM-7:00PM on Monday, May 18. At this time you will be able to meet staff, tour the building and learn more about your new school, PTO and community. Thorpe Creek will offer the same night/times for any new families to TCE. Students are encouraged to attend with their parents!

Body Safety Presentations
Thorpe Creek Elementary School and Hamilton Southeastern Schools are partnering with Chaucie’s Place, a child advocacy organization in Hamilton County, to bring Smart Steps: A Body Safety Program for Children to our Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade students. Smart Steps is a child sexual abuse prevention and education program that empowers your child to say “NO!” to any unwanted touches that make them uncomfortable.
The program will be presented to all Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade students at Thorpe Creek Elementary school on March 30th and 31st. Each presentation is given in individual classrooms and will last approximately 30 minutes. Chaucie’s Place provides presenters for these presentations and at least one TCE school staff member will sit in on each presentation, as well. Although not required, each child's attendance in the program is strongly recommended. To learn more about Chaucie’s Place visit: www.chauciesplace.org.

Candy Bar Bingo
We have filled our volunteer positions!!! Candy Bar Bingo will be on March 20th from 6p - 8:30p in the gymnasium. We will be selling Marco's Pizza and water again. You will be able to buy raffle tickets for Teacher Experiences at the event for $5. Remember the more tickets you buy the better chance of winning. Please direct any questions regarding the raffle to JoLynn Shallop Wright or any PTO board member. Also there will be a Photo Booth at the event located in the Kindergarten/First Grade Pod.

Also Mrs Gibson will have a group of students selling cookies and bracelets to help raise money for an HSE Family in need of support.

Candy Bar Bingo is almost here! It is Friday, March 20th from 6:00 to 8:30. We are 4th graders in Mrs. Gibson’s class and for our Genius Hour project we want to help an HSE family. We are selling cookies, wristbands, and candles for Fishers Junior High student, Aislynn Ball, who has Gardner’s Syndrome. The money will be donated to her family for Aislynn’s medical bills. Gardner’s Syndrome is a type of syndrome that makes tumors grow all over your body.
The wristbands are $2.00 and the cookies are $1.00. The tea light candles are 50¢, the medium candles are $1.00 and the large is $1.50.
We will be selling from 6:00 to 7:30. Make sure to bring money to Candy Bar Bingo!

Kindergarten Round-Up is scheduled for April 16 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. You will need to provide proof of address, birth certificate and immunizations to receive a packet.

FFF T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST
The designs will be displayed at Old National Bank located at 116th and Olio Road March 9 to March 31. Thanks to all of you for supporting art in Fishers!
The schools participating will receive an email the week of March 2 with all of the winning designs.
WE NEED FAMILIES TO SIGN UP AND JOIN OUR ‘CARDINAL RUNNING/WALKING TEAM!
We will register all students and parents that participate on our Cardinal Runners team at one time, so please do not register through the website.
Each participant also receives a Geist 5K shirt, refreshments at the finish line, and a medal!
Please return the attached permission slip and race fee by April 1, 2015.
Our school team will be walking and running in the 5K, a 3.1 mile race. The cost to participate in the Cardinal Runner team is $37.50. Please make checks payable to TCE. The registration fee for the race includes a fee of $7.50 for a “Cardinal Runners” team shirt. Let’s show our school spirit by wearing our Cardinal Runners shirt on race day! Come to Me Food Pantry in Hamilton County
Thank you to each of the members of the cafeteria staff and school families at Brooks School Elementary, Geist Elementary, Fall Creek Elementary, and Thorpe Creek Elementary for the donations from the cafeteria to serve families in need within Hamilton County.
Below are some examples of what we are able to provide our families in a week with all of your help!
HSE FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER PARENT & FAMILY NIGHTS
Parents, families, and staff are invited to attend the following evening presentations at Sand Creek Intermediate School. These presentations are designed to help families and parents respond to common issues facing their children and youth. All are welcome.
Thursday, April 16: “Suicide Awareness, Prevention, and Intervention” by Chris Graves., HSE Suicide Prevention Coordinator.
Thursday, April 30 “Setting Effective Boundaries with Children” by Jeff Foutty, Ed.S., HSE School Psychologist
Thursday, May 14 “Helping High School Students Cope with Anxiety” by Greg Eaken, Ph.D., HSE Behavior Specialist
All presentations will be offered on two occasions on the scheduled dates. The times include an afternoon session beginning at 1pm and an evening session beginning at 6:30pm. Each will last approximately 30-45 minutes in the Sand Creek Intermediate media center (please enter the school through the front doors). Opportunities for questions will follow. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the HSE Family Resource Center at SCI following the presentations.
Child care will be available for evening sessions if requested.

Is your child moving onto Fall Creek Elementary next school year? If you are interested in joining the PTO, or just helping out at the school, please contact Gemma at email@example.com. SOUTHEASTERN SWIM CLUB
SOUTHEASTERN SWIM SCHOOL LESSONS
Southeastern Swim School is excited to announce that we will be offering swim lessons at the brand-new Hamilton Southeastern High School Natatorium for Spring 2015. Daytime and evening lessons will be offered in April and May. Hamilton Southeastern High School is located at 13910 East 126th Street. Group lessons will be offered for children ages 3 and older. Children must be toilet-trained or wear swim diapers to participate in swim lessons.
Openings are available for both daytime and evening classes in April and May. Registration for Spring 2015 classes IS NOW OPEN. Summer 2015 class schedules will be released soon. In addition, daytime lessons from September 2015-May 2016 IS OPEN. Spaces are limited and will fill up quickly- RESERVE YOUR CLASSES NOW!!
