New SPS Wellness Plan
Promoting the healthy goals of HEALTHY PEOPLE 2020
How we'll do it:
- Limiting calories, sodium, sugar, and fat
- Clearing the hallways of unhealthy temptations
- Following USDA guidelines concerning breakfast and lunch
- Limiting options for snack and beverage to healthy choices
- Educating the students about their choices and health
- Making sure all students engage in physical activities
More Healthy Options
Students will have a limited range of snack and side options containing healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables.
Nutrition
We are cutting out some of the calories, sugar, sodium, and fat from the students' diets.
Vending Machines
We are even updating the hallways. No more unhealthy temptations. The vending machines will be stocked with healthier options.
Extracurriculars
We will only allow healthy food options at school activities and fundraisers.
Education
The students will be educated about their food choices and how to change their health statuses.
Physical Activity
Students will have schedules amounts of class time to participate in physical activity.
