Panther Post
May 9 - 14, 2016 - Serve, Lead & Inspire
Hello Lopez Families,
Last week was a wonderful time for teacher appreciation. Our PTA was so wonderful providing food and treats for the staff. Thank you to all who contributed and made them feel appreciated. They had smiles on their faces all week.
I want to thank one of our parents for pointing out the overgrown trees near the street light that was blocking the view of all the students at the crosswalk. It was becoming dangerous since you really couldn't see the kids until you were right there on them. I was able to get a crew out here and clear it out within a couple of days, making the area safer for our kids. It is always good to have extra eyes and ears out there helping us serve our students.
This coming week, we will be taking on the STAAR test. With the amount of teacher training the district and our school has invested in, the targeted instruction and analysis, and dedicated parents and students, I am confident we will excel. We cannot forget though, that our school is so much more than just test scores. There are so many more things that a school should provide. A school should be a place to explore new interests, grow the concept of service, expand the mind in the fine arts, challenge the body in physical education and competition, navigate the social complexities, and so much more. I believe Lopez is that place. If we are not the best at providing each of these, we sure try to be. We are growing and learning too with each new set of students and personalities. So when we get the scores back, and we are leading again, remember that we lead in so much more that will never show up on a state report card.
