Mrs. Johnson's and Mrs. Lawlor's Kindergarten Class
Happy Thanksgiving!
We are learning...
Math: We learned about the dime. We talked about how much a dime is worth. We also worked on counting to 100 by 10s- we made "10s Turkeys" to help us remember our numbers! Please practice counting by 10s with your student.
Science/Social Studies: We learned about Pilgrims and Native Americans this week. We made models of Pilgrim houses and Wetu mats.
A Thanksgiving Story!

Things to remember...
Miss Payne's last day is Friday, December 4th. We are putting together a basket for her with "teacher" supplies. If you would like to donate something to the basket, please send it in before Wednesday, December 2nd. We will present her with the basket on Thursday, December 3rd. She has been such a great asset to our classroom. We are going to miss her smiling face!
On Monday, December 7th, our class will have an opportunity to purchase holiday gifts at Kedron's Holiday Shop. This is a neat opportunity because your child can select, purchase, and wrap up gifts for family members. They love it, because they get to surprise you! There is a great array of gifts to choose from, priced $1.00 to $10.00. Your child will receive an envelope in their purple folder for you to plan their visit to the Holiday Shop. Please complete the envelope with the names (Joe, Mary, Grandma Sue, etc) and suggested amount per person. You will also need to include a check (payable to Kedron) or cash, and return it to your child's teacher. Sorry, no credit cards can be accepted. All students will visit the Holiday Shop even if they do not have money to buy gifts. They will be assisted in making a "wish list."
December is a big assessment month for Kindergarten. Please try to make sure your student is at school on time each day. We will be sending home the first GKIDS report in January with the 2nd 9 weeks report card.
Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack daily. We have a short snack time around 9:00 am. If you would like to donate "extra" snacks for us to have on hand should a student forget his/her snack, Goldfish crackers, Ritz crackers, or fruit snacks would be great!
The dates for our class "Holiday Party" and "The Polar Express Day" have changed. Kindergarten classes will now have their HOLIDAY PARTIES on Thursday, December 17th at 12:30 pm. Our "Polar Express Day" will be on Friday, December 18th.
