Big Sky Community Library News

Letter from the Director
The construction at the school is moving along this summer. There are still a couple more stages that will impact us and we will share them all here and on our Facebook and Instagram pages. If you don't follow us on social media yet, please do so we can get you the most current information. We are also going to have to close tomorrow (FOL is still meeting) and a few days next week and want to make sure you know what those days are. Social media will be the go to for these.
We currently do not have water and sewer and will not have it for most of the month. There is a port-a-potty trailer outside for us to use. There will be a trench in front of the library in a couple of weeks. There will still be access to the library, but we ask everyone to please be careful. As soon as we get the final date, we will post it on social media.
We are continually reminded of the importance of access for all to quality, valid information, both to help us understand what is happening around us and to keep us in the loop of things impacting our community. The role of this library in providing access to that is very important to us. We are developing a few programs for the fall and are excited to share them soon.
The library helps everyone locate information that is dependable, well founded, well grounded, authentic, definitive, attested, valid, genuine, sound, and true while equipping them to debunk that which is false.
Your Big Sky Community Library has many resources and staff available for you! Please don't hesitate to use them! In this newsletter, you will see just a few of the resources we have available. Please come on down to the library and find out what we have to offer and give us feedback about what you want to see in and from the library.
Happy Reading!

"One Book Big Sky" Author Visit Scheduled Sept. 27th
Don't miss out on the "One Book Big Sky" book, And It Will Be a Beautiful Life by Craig Lancaster.
And It Will Be a Beautiful Life is the story of Max Wendt, a pipeline inspector, and his rapidly changing family.
It is a 2022 High Plains Book Award fiction finalist, and it was also a finalist in the 2022 Best Book Awards and the 2022 International Book Awards, both of those honors in the category of literary fiction.
Several copies are available in the library, so come check one out and join us next month!
The visit from Craig Lancaster is scheduled for September 27th at 6:30 in the library. We hope you'll join us for this fun book club!
Storytime!
Every Monday and Friday at 10:30 am we have a storytime at BASE (we will send out the fall schedule in September). Please note that we will have storytime each Monday and Friday this month, regardless of whether or not the library is open.
Storytime is perfect for your toddlers and preschoolers. Each week a special theme is presented incorporating different books and age-appropriate crafts to enjoy. A perfect way to get your child to interact with other kids their age. Please join us!

Library CLOSED tomorrow
We will have a few more closed days in the next couple of weeks and will post those on social media - Facebook and Instagram. We will also try to send out an email at the beginning of the week with those dates, but they may change so social media is your best option.
Thank you!

Overdrive moving to Sora
For those of you who use Overdrive, please note that the Overdrive app will only be available until the end of the year. You will need to download the Sora app and sign in to that to continue to enjoy ebooks and digital audiobooks from the library. Your sign-in information is the same.
Overdrive was the first app that they developed. Over the years, they have taken the feedback they have gotten and developed Libby (you will need this if you have a Bozeman library card) and Sora. Since we share space with the school, our account is more kid friendly - we do have children's books on Sora also!

Wow! We had a wonderful summer reading program this summer and would like to thank everyone who made it possible.
Thank you to BASE for hosting us!
Thank you to Walt the Magician, Gallatin River Task Force, Julie Edwards, The LEGO Guy, and Montana Outdoor Science School! We had a fabulous time with all of you.
*If your child was at the program with Julie Edwards, you can stop by the art studio at BASE in a week or so to find your child's clay octopus.
Please share your feedback with us as we start to think about next summer. We want to hear from you.
A big thank you to Spanish Peaks Community Foundation for providing the funding for our Summer Reading Programs!
