Relevance and Impotence

Cost of Education is such a precedent issue in America because it is affecting everyone not just those in college. Students of high school have to start worrying about what they want to do after they graduate and college prices are a huge factor in deciding whether or not they want to continue their learning carrier. New collage graduates are also greatly affected, especially those with students loans and debts who have to worry about paying them off. Parents of students also are concerned with tuition prices and have to worry if they can afford them . In opposition adults whose kids are out of college, or don't have kids are affected in the sense that if education prices drop their taxes will likely rise in order to compensate. These costs are such pressing issue today due to the fact that they have tripled in the past 40 years and are still continuing to rise. Since lowering college and university prices is a given the real debation is over where they should get the money needed to lower them.

Republican Position

Although Donald Trump and the Republicans in Congress both are for cheaper education it is neither of their first concerns. The share the view that they want to lower prices but have not announced any surefir plan to get it done. Trump believes that they should help people lower student loans but does not believe they should be completely forgiven. He also believes that the money for this can be made my making cuts in the Federal Student Loan program so that they can no longer make a profit on student's loans. Congress thinks that prices should be lower to make education more accessible, and believes this can be achieved my getting rid of Federal college loans and just insuring private ones along with further limiting the federal governments role in education.

Democratic Possition

Hillary Cliton and the Democrats in Congress have both made it clear that education is of there primary concerns. Hillary believes community colleges should be free, and all other colleges and universities should be atleast debt-free. She plans to allow students in debt to refinance to low interest rates, and explains how she can get the money to do this from taxing big companies in businesses like oil and pharmaceutical. Congress has made there position quite known when they doubled their investment in Pell Grant, and again when they proposed a National Tuition Savings Program. Congress believes they can cut student interest rates, lower loans, and make tuition tax deductible by getting the money from cutting out banks (the middle men) in all education related loans. Hillary and Congree both believe that more accessible education will lead to brighter generations.

Donald Trump

"A four-year degree today can be expensive enough to create six-figure debt. We can't forgive these loans, but we should take steps to help students.

The big problem is the federal government. There is no reason the federal government should profit from student loans. This only makes an already difficult problem worse. The Federal Student Loan Program turned a $41.3 billion profit in 2013.

These student loans are probably one of the only things that the government shouldn't make money from, and yet it does. And do you think this has anything to do with why schools continue to raise their tuition every year? Those loans should be viewed as an investment in America's future."

-Donald Trump states this in his book, Crippled America:How to Make America Great Again

Hillary Cliton

"We were making progress in narrowing the gap between high tuition and costs and what the average student and his or her family could pay. We ought to be making sure every qualified student can go to college and pursue his or her dreams. And you know, there’s a very easy way to do that. All we have to do is cut all the tax breaks for oil companies, pharmaceutical companies and billionaires and put it into student aid."

-Hillary Cliton explains this at the Annual 2006 Take Back America Conference
