News from Ms. Hess
In math, we are working with adding and subtracting fractions using fraction tiles. This allows kids to have a hands-on method for discovering finding a common denominator. Check out IXL items L6 and L9 to see fraction tiles being used.
In literacy, we are working to summarize biographies using the somebody/ wanted/ but/ so / then strategy. Ask your child to summarize the life of Frederick Douglass.
In word study (formerly known as spelling), we used our prefix, root, and suffix word cards to build larger words. Ask your child about their word study cards.
In science, we learned about the circulatory system and respiratory system by measuring our vital capacity through respiration bags. We are closing out our science unit by discovering our nervous system. Ask your child about the stimulus and response activity we did today!
