A Message from the Prinicpal
Chapman Families,
We're off to a great start! This week we learned new routines and students took mini field trips around the building learning about and practicing our school-wide PRIDE expectations. Please take a few minutes to read our newsletter for this upcoming week! New items are first followed by a few back to school repeated items. Please make sure to update your Annual School Forms by September 1. We hope to see your family tonight at the football game! Our students always have a blast leading the football team onto the field.
Yours in partnership,
Mrs. Harrell
This week students practiced walking on the right side of the hallways with a voice level zero.
Our newest Mustangs had a great first few days at school! During orientation they learned how to safely ride on the school bus to and from school!
This week students learned their new schedules and routines! They had fun going to lunch, recess and their encore classes!

Chapman School-Wide Expectations: PRIDE
What is PBIS?
Positive Behaviors Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an approach we use to establish the behavioral supports and social culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional and academic success. PBIS applies a three-tiered system of support and a problem-solving process to enhance the capacity of Chapman Elementary School to effectively educate all students.
The behavior expectations at Chapman Elementary School are:
Prepared
Respectful
Inclusive
Determined
Engaged
These expectations are taught to all students throughout the school year. There are rules and procedures for all areas of the building.
PBIS has been shown to be effective in:
Reducing discipline problems
Improving overall academic outcomes
Reducing bullying behavior
Improving social/emotional competence
Please click on the image below to view our school-wide behavior expectations. These are the expectations taught by all Chapman staff to ensure a safe, positive and conducive learning environment for all.
Chapman Elementary School PBIS 2022 Bronze Award Recipiant
Ohio’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Recognition System provides an opportunity for schools and districts to be recognized for creating school environments that are positive, predictable, safe and equitable. PBIS aligns with Ohio’s Whole Child Framework by creating safe and supportive schools and prioritizing its five components.
Each year, the Ohio Department of Education and the PBIS Network recognize schools and districts for their quality and fidelity of PBIS implementation. Schools are eligible to receive awards at the bronze, silver or gold levels of distinction. Chapman Elementary School has been recognized as a 2021-2022 Bronze Elementary School for it's implementation of Tier 1 systems and supports.
