IN THE BEGINNING
A year ago I began this new journey of being the leader of our precious group, and it has most certainly been incredibly rewarding for me on a personal level.
Since taking over, I have faced the enemy head on as I navigated my way through the last 12 months. I was literally tested on many levels from financially, to my level of serving, to my commitments, to my “sanity”. I questioned so much about The Why? The How? And the Are you sure that I’m the right one to lead these women and their families?
In all essence, the good Lord had already prepared me for such a time as this. The responsibility, qualities, the know how, the (leadership) skills, and the wisdom.
The theme here – I allowed a good amount of fear to get in my way. I was talking the talk, but hadn’t put forth the proper vision and trust in myself yet to walk the walk. It took me about half of the year, if not more, to let go and let God.
Now, here we are starting a brand new year together. For some of you, this has been a walk in the park. You’re our Shero’s. Our seasoned veterans. But for many of you, this is your New Beginning! You are our team's Rookies. But what’s truly so amazing about being on either side, is that we’re all walking into this New Year; this New beginning together.
Cheers to
A Fresh Start.
A New Day.
A NEW BEGINNING!
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Mommy Moment with Amy Grabowski
I am a newbie to this amazing group of women. My wonderful husband and I and our three kids (Lincoln-6, Truman-3 ½, and Ruby 18 months) moved here last July from Illinois. We moved for a job and we didn’t know anyone here. We knew finding a church would be one of our first things to do. ELC was actually the first (and last!) church we tried. We loved it from the first time. Shortly after we started coming I decided to start serving in the café. I love coffee so it seemed like the best choice!! I met a mom there who told me about Elevated moms and she invited me to join her at the next meeting. Unfortunately it was the only one I’ve been able to attend so far but that will be changing this year!! After just that first meeting, these women have made me feel so welcome in a place where we didn’t have anyone. We see each other in the halls and at our She Times and they hug me and say hello and invited me to playdates and small groups.
When we lived in Illinois we spend most of our time with family. I really didn’t have a lot of friends, and the few I did have weren’t in the same stage of life I was in. It wasn’t until we moved here that I have had to step out of my comfort zone and start to make friends (something that hasn’t always been easy for me). Since moving here I have met some of the most amazing women and we have developed such great friendships! I never understood how important girlfriends were until this past year. Especially "mom" friends! The ones that will be there when you’re having a rough day or just need to laugh! I guess what I am saying is that if you are a part of the group and haven’t been to one of the meetings or maybe you’re like me and you’ve been to one or two, I want to encourage you to come back, meet us and get to know us. Doing life with these ladies will change you, encourage you and help you be a better mom and a better person! I am so grateful for each of you and I am so thankful for this group.
Kid's Prayer Corner
Its a new year, what a wonderful time to teach your kids about vision and goals!
They're never to young to start this wonderful tradition. Make it easy. Use magazines, craft supplies, stickers, and paper to cut out and draw goals for next year. Start with a Scripture section and change it every week. ELC Kids gives us one to use (you can pick this up at any weekend service).
Prayer Corner
As we come into a new year God we thank you. We thank you for the year ahead and for the plan You have in each of our lives. Help me to live in the way you want me to, in courage, strength, love and gratitude. Help me to be a wonderful, giving friend. I want my thinking to be Elevated like never before. I hope and pray for peace and joy over my family each day in the coming year.
Amen.
