A Message from Administration
Greetings DLES Community,
It has been another fantastic week here at Ducketts Lane. Although the week started off feeling like summer, it projected to quickly shifted over to fall. Looking ahead at next week's weather, it looks like it is going to be colder. Please remind your child to take a jacket to school so that they can stay warm while they play outside.
If your child had perfect attendance for the first quarter, they were given an OWL-Standing award for showing Owl-Standing effort in following our DLES school expectations throughout the week. One of the expectations we strive for is to show responsibilty, and being present and on time is just one way that students can show responsibilty. Congratulations to your child or children for maintaining perfect attendance for the first quarter.
There have been some instances of students drawing and writing unkind things on walls or within the bathroom areas. We have also had some students trying to fill the toliets with paper towels to flood the restroom. Not only does this close the restroom for others to use until the plumbing and area can be cleaned, a flood like this could result in water damage to our building. We ask for your partnership in speaking with your students about the importance of not participating in these activities and bringing attention of such actions to adults so that we can use these instances as learning opportunities for students and preserving our school's clean, safe, and welcoming presence. Additionally, we would like to remind our students that the restroom is an unsanitary location to play and should only be accessed for it's intended purpose. Additionally, you can remind your students that such actions don't match the behavior expectations for our students as outlined within the Student Code of Conduct.
We hope to see you at our PTA's International Night tonight at 6:30pm. *This is not an event only for children. An adult must attend with their child. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and we will see everyone on Monday.
Colds and other germs are around. We have had an increase of students coming to school with a fever, vomiting, and or having diarrhea and we really need students with these symptoms to stay home until they are healthy enough for learning. Prior to your child returning to school due to illness, they need to be fever free without the use of medicine, no longer having any episodes of vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours. A sick child is not at their best for learning, but they are also exposing other students and staff to illness.
Proudly Serving in Partnership with You,
Mrs. Caroland, Mrs. Van Osdel, Mrs. Yerashunas

Due to our parking area and building capacity, we ask that you visit on the designated date and time for your child's grade. We want to make sure that the traffic during arrival and dismissal is not disrupted by visiting during these times, and we would like our students day to run as normal as possible with visitors in the building.
Parents/Guardians Make Sure You Have Reviewed Your Child's Report Card
Below are links that can help you navigate to find this report.
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING FOCUS AT SCHOOL
Questions that students can ask themselves or you can ask them so that they can better understand social awareness:
- What is one way that you can respect someone who has a different culture or background?
- What is something about your family culture or background that makes you proud?
- Have you ever felt like you don't belong?
- What is something you wish someone had done to make you feel like you did belong?
