Knox Middle School
April 2021
Welcome To April!
Hello Knox Families!
We hope everyone is having a restful and relaxing Spring Break. During the month of March our Knox students participated in Read Across America with Baker Elementary School. Check out some pictures form this event in our Lincoln Cluster Newsletter.
Our staff at Knox has been focused this year on building a strong instructional framework and "Ensuring Effective Teaching in Every Classroom," which is Level 2 of Marzano's High Reliability Framework. As part of this focus, some of our Knox instructional highlights are:
- Instructional Framework that includes the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs) and Quality Teaching Practices (QTPs) with a focus on supporting multilingual learners with strategies and digital tools
- Goal setting and self-reflection process for teachers and para educators in Bullseye
- Professional Learning Journals (self-reflection on learning and practices)
- Professional Learning opportunities for teachers and para educators are aligned to best support students in the classrooms and a formalized way to share learning with all staff after attending a PD (staff website)
- IEP Logs are in place to collect and track data to inform next best steps for students (academics and social emotional), EL data tracking for resource teachers with lens on student learning
- Action Research and inquiry groups that are mixed content and grade levels
- Lesson Study
- Recording and self reflecting on own teaching
- Analyzing student work with common protocols in Action Research groups
- Student feedback via End of Course survey (EOC).
- Instructional Framework aligned also aligned to work in E3
We are very proud to announce that on March 23, 2021, Knox was Certified as a Level 2 Marzano High Reliability School. Knox is the only school in SDUSD to be certified as a Level 1 and Level 2 school.
