Parent Survey - Reopening
In preparation for the January 11, 2021 reopening date, Superintendent, Dr. Adam Clark, has sent out a survey for parents to complete. **The Superintendent sent out a survey specific to YOUR family, so please do not share your link, it's a one time use.** The results from this survey will be used to help guide our district and school’s next steps. Please check your email, and be sure to complete this first “non-binding” survey.
Here is the generic link to take MDUSD’s non-binding survey for families in case you missed: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/5993990/General-MDUSD-Parent-Return-to-School-Preparation-Survey-2-copy
The survey is easy to complete, takes less than two minutes, and will be very helpful for our planning. We ask that all families complete this survey as soon as possible.
New Hybrid Schedule Proposal: see below
All students would receive daily, live, direct instruction from 8-11am for academics via Zoom.
12:00 - 2:30 in person learning for Group A/B meaning 50% of the students would come to school for 2.5 hours M/T & TH/F, (for tutoring, counseling, social/emotional learning opportunities, physical activity, relationship building). There would not be core academics taught at this time.
This is a proposal and still needs to be negotiated with the districts bargaining units. Please stay tuned to the board meeting tonight for further info. Nov. 9th - Regular Board Meeting LINK to Agenda
Make-Up/Retake Picture Day in Thor Hall - December 2, 2020 from 3-7pm
Square 1 Art Fundraiser - DEADLINE: November 30th
Want to buy your children's artwork on items such as coffee mugs, coasters and more?!
Your teachers have sent home/emailed (or planning to) you the Square 1 Art forms. Normally the children do a fun art project in their classes (during a 'normal' school year) and we submit them. Once they are submitted, Square 1 provides a magazine with your children's artwork for you to purchase items (great for holiday gifts).
This year, once you receive your form (either physically in a pick up or virtually via email), follow your teachers directions (they may decide to do an art project with their students or let you be creative on your own). You'll then need to upload your child's art to the Square 1 Art website. Instead of a magazine this year, you'll be able to view their art on items from the website. You will also purchase from the website. The deadline to upload and purchase is November 30th (but you'll want to get it in sooner).
This is a great fundraiser for our school!

Dear Valhalla Community,
Thank you for the incredible hard work, flexibility and positivity as we navigate distance learning! I appreciate your support and feedback. Please keep on reminding me your names, say hello, call or email me. I know that we have many questions regarding the opening plan and timelines, and we are in this together. It was so energizing to see so many of you at the parade! I am also getting into classrooms via zoom so I can get to know your students. I am so grateful for the entire Valhalla Community and this holiday season, I am thankful for you!
Sincerely,
Principal Pappas
