Administrative Professional's Day
Volunteer Spotlight
Please note: We are still in need of an Odyssey of the Mind Coordinator. If your child is interested in participating in this program or has participated in the past and you would like to see the program continue, we need your help. The program will not happen in the coming school year if we do not have a volunteer!
This week's spotlight: Corporate Sponsorship Chairperson
As a part of our fundraising efforts here at Penny Road, we seek sponsorship from local businesses and in return, offer them recognition on our website and various other forms of communication and offer them a presence at our Spring Carnival. Much of this work, can be done via the phone or email and just involves a little creativity and persistence. You will work with our President and our V.P. of Fundraising to brainstorm ideas, contact businesses and find various ways to raise money through Corporate Sponsors. Regarding a time commitment, our intention is to reach our fundraising goal within the first few months of school. It is a manageable goal and once it is reached, there is no time commitment involved.
If you would be willing to serve on this team, please email Amy Toland at tolandfam@gmail.com.

Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) Nomination Window open until April 26th
SSA is a program for students working approximately 1.5 to 2 years above their current grade level in math or reading. Students may be nominated for either MATH or READING, but NOT both subject areas. The nomination window is open from April 13th -26th at 4:00 PM. Any nominations received after 4:00 PM will NOT be accepted. Please contact Ms. Hamilton at khamilton4@wcpss.net for any questions about the program, testing or how to nominate your student. Use SSA for (Student Name) as the subject of the email.
Things to consider before nominating your student:
- Is my student working 1.5 to 2 years above their grade level?
- Will my student be okay with transitioning to a different classroom at a higher grade level for math or reading each day?
- Would my student be okay with going to lunch/specials/recess with a different grade level if the schedule does not align school wide for math and reading times?

3rd-5th grade parents mark your calendars for EOG testing!
A message from Mrs. Grove...
End Of Grade (EOG) testing dates have changed from what was posted on the website previously. This is due to June 11th being removed as a makeup day. All EOGs must be completed in the last 10 days of school. The testing window now begins on May 25th because of that change. It is extremely important that students are present on the days that their EOGs will be administered. If you are able to volunteer to help on these testing days, log in to Konstella to see the sign up! Parents and volunteers play a vital part in making sure our EOGs are proctored and run smoothly. https://www.konstella.com/app/school/57ab92fbe4b0bb1262a8ddda/signups/5acf60a0e4b0b76d93b1a41b
Please e-mail Lisa Grove, lgrove@wcpss.net, if you have any questions. Thank you so much!
