Husky Packs Stick Together
The teachers of Churchill/Hoover wanted to create an opportunity for students to develop strong relationships with each other and also with other staff in their buildings. This is how Husky Time was born. Watch this quick video to learn how students across multiple grade levels, "a pack", come together every six days for Husky Time.

Art For Nature's Sake
Riverside Elementary and Art4Trails have been collaborating to create a sculpture for Rochester's trail network. The goal with this project is to inspire, challenge, and empower all students to have a role in creating inspiration for the final sculpture which will be unveiled in May. Leading up to the big reveal, Riverside students and partners (such as Hannah from the ALC featured below) install weekly origami exhibitions throughout Rochester. The origami pieces are influencing the final sculpture. Follow along on their journey by visiting their Community Schools Site Facilitator's Blog.
Facilities Needs Survey
All staff have received an invitation via your district email address to complete the Rochester Public Schools Facilities Needs Survey. This survey, administered by School Perceptions, will arrive in all district residents' mailboxes early next week. While our focus will always be to provide exceptional opportunities for our students, we also need to address overcrowding in our elementary and middle schools, increase school safety, and improve educational support spaces at the middle and high schools. The survey explains this in greater detail. Survey results will be reported to the School Board on March 5, 2019.
You can follow all of the facilities updates on our website and also on our YouTube channel.
Threats, Social Media, and Vaping
In January, RPS teamed up with the Rochester Police Department and Olmsted County Public Health to share important information on how the district receives and responds to threats, consequences to various social media threats, and the dangers and nuances of vaping. We want to thank the RPD and Olmsted County Public Health for their partnership in bettering the lives of our youth. You can watch this session on YouTube.
Website Update
Unfortunately, due to two back-to-back RPS communications staff family emergencies in the past two weeks, we have had to delay the launch of our new website. Instead of launching on February 4, we are regrettably moving the launch date to February 18, 2019.
