Panda Ant
what is it??
This beautiful creature was first discovered in the year 1938 in the central coastline of Chile. It is known as ‘Euspinolia militaris’ but was nicknamed panda ant after its adorable panda charecteristics. They vary from around 8 milimeters in lenth and 2-3 millimeters in height, they are also covered in small black and white hairs (obviously). Although it may seem to be an ant it is actually a wingless wasp! These creatures might look cute but its sting sure isint! These are also known as ‘cow killers' due to their painful sting which is believed to be strong enough to subdue a GROWN cow.
They lay approximately 2000 eggs in a year but most baby panda ants are consumed right after being hatched because of their bright colors attracting predators. In case these ants do get a chance at survival, they only live up to two years. Because of this they are considered as one of the nearly extinct species in the world.
