Prekindergarten
Kindergarten
Kindergarten was so excited to get back to school and celebrate the Epiphany! They started the week sharing their Christmas stories, writing, illustrating and telling about their most favorite gifts they would bring to baby Jesus if they were one of the Magi. They explored Italy and the legend of La Benfana, the nice witch who brings the children of Italy their gifts on the Epiphany as she searches for baby Jesus. Kindergarten dove into their new Science Unit “All About the Human Body”, where they will review the 5 senses and learn about the muscles, bones and important organs that make us go! They put their brains to work as we began addition in Math, using base ten blocks and the number line. They finished our week with a fun project about “Sneezy the Snowman” who kept melting. It helped them discover the cause and effect relationships all around them.
1st Grade
5th Grade
The 5th Grade celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany by marking our classroom door and desks with blessed chalk. The chalk serves as a reminder to all those who enter that we are disciples of Christ.
7th Grade
7th grade did a great job debating which Scientific Revolution discovery they felt was most important to our world today. After peer voting, the topic winners were: advancements in medicine and human anatomy discoveries, the scientific method, cells and the microscope, and how the heart pumps blood. Great job 7th grade!

Parish Updates
- Reminder - If you require a low-gluten host or you are bringing communion to the sick, we have set up a table in the niche on the way out to the Columbarium on Joseph's side (if you are having trouble locating it, please ask an usher). Please go to the table and put your host in the appropriate pyx (there are two, one for Low Gluten and one for communion to the sick). Please leave the pyx on the table for the sacristan to place on the altar for you. We ask that you please arrive at least 10 minutes before Mass begins to allow time for the sacristan to place the pyx on the altar prior to the beginning of Mass.
- Link to the 4:15 p.m. streamed Mass.
- Thrift Shop - due to the spike in COVID-19 incidents and a reduced number of volunteers, the Thrift Shop is temporarily changing its hours for shopping. We will be open for shoppers Tuesday - Friday 1:00 p.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Volunteers who have been working in the back areas can still come in mornings starting at 8 a.m. That gives time to sort, re-tag, and restock the floor with no customer interaction. We are not scheduling any pick-ups at this time, but are taking donations at the back of the store, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. until we have reached capacity. We will be monitoring the situation week to week to determine when we can resume regular hours.
- Ushers needed! - If you are interested in joining the usher ministry, please let me know. I will provide you with the appropriate diocesan paperwork. Ushers are needed for all Masses. I will attest that it is a wonderful way to meet many of our parishioners and make some new friends.
- Women of St. Francis - WOSF January Meeting Monday, January 11th - 1:00 p.m. in the Family Center. Dr. Stohrer of Hilton Head Natural Medicine will be discussing how his Natural, Drug Free Holistic Approach to health care has helped his patients overcome and reverse many of today's challenges and ailments. Because of COVID-19, we must throw anything out that is left behind in the narthex, the adoration chapel, or in the pews of the Church. If you bring it in with you, please either bring it home with you or throw it in the trash can in the Narthex. This is for everyone's safety. Thank you so much for your help!
