school supply dress down tomorrow

In honor of our 6th grade Patron Saint, St. Gemma Galgani (patron saint of students), the sixth graders are hosting a new school supply drive. All students in PreK 3 through grade 8 are invited to participate in our first dress down day of the school year. Tomorrow, Friday, is a New School Supply Dress Down Day! Students are welcome to bring a new school supply (to be donated to an area public school) and dress out of uniform. Please be sure to check the Parent Student Handbook for dress down day guidelines. Thank you for supporting this cause!

parent orientation

The final Parent Orientation Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 24 for parents with children in grades 1-4. These meetings are critical as we begin the year together. These meetings are for adults only; please do not bring children. Please read below carefully and make plans to attend Parent Orientation:

Wednesday, August 24: Parent Orientation for Grades 1-4 at 6pm. Parents will report directly to their child's homeroom class.

Field Trips, Visiting on Campus, and Siblings

All parents are reminded of the fingerprint requirement if you choose to participate in a field trip or be on campus volunteering. The directions for completing the fingerprint process can be found in the Resource section below.

Some teachers are beginning to plan Fall Field Trips for their class. Don't be left out! If you think you may want to attend the field trip, you must be fingerprinted through the Diocese. The process can take 4-6 weeks. Fingerprint clearance lasts for 5 years. If you are not fingerprint cleared, please begin the process TODAY!

Unfortunately, younger siblings are not permitted to be on campus for special events and field trips. Parents who choose to volunteer on campus, or go on a field trip, will need to make alternative plans for siblings.

altar server training

On Saturday, August 20th at 10 am, St. Joseph Catholic Church will host an Altar Server training class for current and new servers. The training will be in the church.

This ministry seeks to encourage the youth of our parish to fully engage in our faith through their service to the Church as altar servers. Serving at the altar gives youth a hands-on, personal experience of God's work in the liturgy.

Requirements are that the children have received their First Communion. Children over the age of 14 will need to complete the Safe Environment Training and Fingerprinting. Please contact the Church office, 863-294-3144, with any questions.

Middle School Edge

Our middle school students are invited to attend a St. Joseph’s Middle School Ministry. The night’s theme is called “Art Show: Can We Know God exists?” This theme, and throughout this semester, we will be emphasizing that science and faith can work together. They are not oppositions to one another like many people think.

Come join us at 6:00 PM in the Family Life Center Room #3 for pizza, fun games, and open dialogue about the faith. For this specific night, August 31st, our middle schoolers will be challenged to create sculptures of a popular movie scene and then guess what other groups created. The purpose of this activity is for the youth to ask a creator questions about their creation, which ties into the questions they will be asking about God throughout the semester. The night will close out at 8:00 PM in prayer and with a bi-weekly challenge for the youth to accomplish!

St. Joseph Prayer

O Blessed Joseph, faithful guardian of my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, protector of Mary, the virgin Mother of God, I choose you this day to be my special patron and advocate and I firmly resolve to honor you all the days of my life. Therefore, I humbly ask you to receive me as your client, to instruct me in every doubt, to comfort me in every affliction, to obtain for me and for all the knowledge and love of the Heart of Jesus, and finally to defend and protect me at the hour of my death. Amen.
