Crow Island Parent Newsletter
November 8, 2021
Dear Crow Island Families,
As the weather starts to get a little colder, we are proactively planning for our lunches to move indoors. You can see below that I have included some general guidance we are following as a school around lunch and when we will shift to indoors. For recess, our plan is to head outside as much as possible so please start to plan ahead and send your children with the appropriate cold weather gear.
I have received numerous emails about vaccines and I wanted to remind everyone that as a district we are hosting a vaccine clinic on November 12th. A registration email is going out to families at 8pm later this evening.
Stay well,
Luke

Save the Date - Kindergarten Thanksgiving Concert - November 15th
As a special return to a long standing tradition for Crow Island kindergarten families, we are excited to share that three kindergarten classes will collectively be hosting our Thanksgiving Concert on Friday, November 19th, at 1:15 pm. In accordance with COVID protocols, we are limiting the number of guests to 2 people per kindergartener.
At the conclusion of the performance, we will return to the classroom at which time you are you are welcome to leave with your child
Cold Weather Information:
We plan to go outside whenever possible for both lunch and recess. Our rule of thumb is “when in doubt, we go out.” That said, the weather is getting colder and we ask for families to partner with us to ensure students are prepared to go outside. Our ask is that you take a look at the weather in the morning and send students with the gear needed to head outside even in the colder weather.
Below are some guidance we are using as a district to determine if we are eating lunch inside or staying inside for recess:
When will we eat inside? We will start to eat inside when the weather falls below 40 degrees or if there is extreme weather/ground conditions.
When is it too cold to go outside for recess? Only in the event of very cold days will we not be going outside for recess. In the morning, we will closely monitor the temperature and if temperatures fall below 15 degrees then we will plan for indoor recess. That said, if the day is sunny and students have winter gear we are likely to head outside for a few minutes of fresh air.
