16th St. Bombing

The girls Addie Mae Collins, Denise Mcnair, Carole Robertson, and Cynthia Wesley were preparing to for the sermon The Loves That Forgives. Then at 10:22 a.m. the bomb went off. There were four deaths and 22 injuries. At the funeral for the three girls one of the families chose to have a private funeral Martin Luther King Jr. said that life is as hard as crucible steel.
The girls above from left to right are Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, And Denise Mcnair.
These men above all former Klu Klux Klan members were the one convicted of the crime. Robert Chambliss was convicted in 1977. Then three decades later Thomas Blanton Jr., and Bobby Frank Cherry were convicted for the bombing and sent to prison.
