Highlights from the week
This past week we:
- became scientists! We went to the Learning Garden to observe living and nonliving things.
Curriculum News
Math
This week we:
- learned that decimals represent a PART of a whole.
- practiced reading and writing decimals to the thousandths place.
Language Arts
This week we:
- brainstormed things that are special to us and recalled a small moment there.
- tried our hand at writing snapshot leads.
- identified an author's purpose for writing.
Social Studies & Science
This week we:
- discussed communities, populations, and habitats.
- practiced making inferences based on our observations.

Q:What is a snapshot lead?
A: When the author begins the story with a detailed description of the setting.
Q: The Science study guide and cards went home today. Should you cut out the study cards?
A: No. The study guide will be used for homework in the upcoming weeks. Feel free to make a copy of the cards to cut out and use at home. The study guide should be kept in the homework folder to be used both at school and at home.
Q: With the book you are reading at home, show me how to use one "Sticky Note" sentence stem on your worksheet. Is there another "sticky note" sentence stem you could use?
Q: What was a "cool or new vocabulary" word you heard this week?
