Biographical Information

Annie Leibovitz was born on October 2, 1949 in Waterbury, Connecticut. In 1970, Leibovitz started her photography career working at Rolling Stone. In 1983, Annie started working for the entertainment magazine Vanity Fair. She is currently publishing and advertising her personal work in New York City.

Primary Subjects and Focus

Leibovitz primarily took portrait photographs, occasionally she would take abstract photos. For example, the picture of Lincoln's gloves would be an abstract photo she took.

Major Contribution to the Photography Industry

Annie's major contribution to the photography industry is taking celeberties' portraits and advertising and promoting them to the public. This has made her a very famous photographer since she first started with the Rolling Stones magazine.

Annie Leibvoltz has contributed with, American Ballet Theatre, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Mark Mooris Dance group. She has also contributed with Mikhail Baryshnikov.
