Sappington Elementary School
May 14, 2023
School officially begins at 8:55 AM. This means your child must be in their classroom at 8:55 AM to be considered as arriving on time. We understand mornings can be full and hectic, but it is important that your child arrives at school on time so they are ready to begin their day, in their classroom, at our 8:55 AM start time. We appreciate your support! And remember, right turn only entering & exiting our parking lot :)
Please take a few minutes to help the Sappington Parent Teacher Group by providing feedback on the events from this year. We thank you in advance for helping us improve and provide events families are excited about! Access the survey here: https://forms.gle/sxbZacPbXAimpq5N9
2024-25 School Calendar Survey
Families and students, your feedback is important to us as we begin thinking about the 2024-25 school year calendar. In August, the district Calendar Committee will meet to begin planning, and your input will provide valuable perspective about family needs. Please click the link below to share your thoughts with us.
Student Board Advisory Committee Opportunity
This week, students in grades 3-7 learned about a new opportunity beginning next year to share feedback with the Board of Education on issues that are important to students. Lindbergh Schools Board of Education Student Representative Adam Spree is forming student advisory groups for the 2023-24 school year. These groups will provide an opportunity for students from all backgrounds and schools to share their perspective on the issues that affect them the most. Students currently in grades 3-7 can fill out the form linked below if they are interested in being considered for this opportunity.
Lost and Found
As we are entering our final weeks of school, please have your child check our lost and found. You can also preview and claim items on our Lost & Found Facebook page. Our final collection will be at the end of the school year. All items left behind will be donated.
2023-24 Enrollment Projections
If you know your child(ren) will not attend Sappington next year, please send an email to Dr. Parker as soon as possible. Thank you.

New Student Information System Launching Soon
We are excited to announce the launch of a new student information system, Infinite Campus, which will replace Tyler SIS beginning in the 2023-24 school year. With Infinite Campus, you will be able to check your student’s grades, attendance records, and other important information from your phone, tablet, or computer. You will also be able to communicate with your student’s teachers and stay up-to-date on assignments and events.
While parents will continue to have access to the SIS Portal for the remainder of this school year, Annual Online Verification for the 2023-24 school year will begin in May, using Infinite Campus. Please look for more information coming soon.
Lindbergh staff have been training regularly to ensure a smooth transition for district families. In fact, our new kindergarten families used Infinite Campus for new student registration this Spring, and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are confident that Infinite Campus will be a great improvement for Lindbergh students and families throughout the school year, and we cannot wait to show you all the great features it has to offer!
Be on the lookout soon for login information and helpful tips!

Medicaid Renewal: Important Update
MO HealthNet (Missouri Medicaid) is now requiring families to update their addresses and possibly their eligibility every year. Families that do not follow the steps below will be dropped from Medicaid and have to reapply, so it is important that families eligible for Medicaid coverage do the following:
Watch for a letter in the mail. Renewal letters should arrive between April 2023 and April 2024. You will need to follow the instructions on the letter you receive to complete the process.
For more information, please visit https://mydss.mo.gov/renew.

Board Approves 2023-24 School Year Calendar
The Lindbergh Schools Board of Education voted in October to approve the 2023-24 school year calendar. The first day of school for students will be on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, and the last day will be on Friday, May 24, 2024. For more details, please click the link below.
How to Email Your Student’s Teacher
Communicating with your student’s teacher is easy to do, even if you don’t have their email address. This summer, Lindbergh Schools has removed teacher email addresses from the public-facing district website in response to security recommendations our district Technology Department received from the Department of Homeland Security, to help prevent malicious phishing attempts. However, teacher contact information is still available in the SIS Portal and Canvas, by following these directions:
SIS Portal (Grades PK-12)
Log in to the SIS Portal
Click “Send Email” in the left-hand menu
Select which teacher(s) you want to message by checking the box next to their name
On the next page, fill out the subject line and text of your message
Canvas (Grades 6-12, and some elementary)
Lindbergh teacher contact information is listed on each Canvas course homepage. This information includes e-mail address, phone extension and office hours. If your student’s teacher does not have their contact information listed, please let us know.
Meal Prices and Meal Account Balance Reminder
As a reminder, school meals are no longer free this year. Meal prices are as follows:
Breakfast is $1.65
Elementary student lunch is $3.15
Middle and high school student lunch is $3.30
Reduced lunch cost is $0.40
Beginning this fall, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is no longer providing school breakfast and lunch free of charge, so it is essential that families check their student’s meal balance in the SIS Portal and make sure that funds are available for meal purchases.
How to check your balance:
Log in to the SIS Portal
Your username is your email address. Please use the “Forgot your parent password?” link if you are unable to access the system.
You can view the “Meal Service Balance” on your student’s dashboard. Look for the blue icon with the apple.
If you need to add funds, click on the “Meal Service Balance” button to add money or view students’ purchase activity
Free and Reduced-Price Meals
Families who qualify for free or reduced-price meals can fill out an application for the 2022-23 school year. The free and reduced-price meals application is available as an e-form this year, and can be found on the SIS Portal.
Device Protection Plan Reminder
As a reminder, all students in grades 4-12 who are not signed up for Lindbergh’s device protection plan will be fined the full cost of any damage, loss, or theft of their device and accessories.
To sign up online:
Click on the Technology square.
Click Add Student; enter your student’s 10-digit Student ID and Last Name.
Click on Optional Fees to add the device protection plan to your cart.
Follow steps to check out.
Families may also pay with cash or a check (made payable to Lindbergh Schools) at your student’s school office.
Contact email@example.com for further assistance.
Please note that intentional damage to the device or accessories is not covered by this protection plan.
Winter Weather Update for Families
As colder weather approaches, now is a good time to remind families and staff how we prepare for potential school closures that can result from snow, ice, or other severe weather events.
In the event of inclement weather, we will decide to close school based on a number of factors, including student safety, bus transportation, road conditions and wind chill temperature. When possible, the decision to close school is made by 10 p.m. the night before. However, if the decision cannot be made by 10 p.m., then a decision will be made between 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. the next morning.
If the decision is made to cancel school, all families and staff will receive a phone call, text message and email notification.
