Terrorist attacks have less impact on investors
The effects of terrorist attacks in world market seem diminished. As such attacks increase, investors don’t seem as worried and concerns about the consequences of the attacks on the global economy reduced. The main indices rose yesterday.
British newspaper The Guardian said that France's decision to respond to the terrorist attacks on Friday harshly had the effect that the exchange of shares in companies producing war materials rose. The price of the individual tourism fell on Monday but rose again yesterday.
According to the USA Today shares rose in the US on Monday. It is the first time that this happens, the first trading day after the attack of this kind is made. The newspaper says that this means that terrorism has less impact on the economy than they did before.
The US Dow Jones index rose by 237 points on Monday and Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 1.4 percent. Shares rose too general in Europe. Stoxx Europe 600 index rose 0.3 percent and the CAC 40 index in France fell by 0.1 percent.
The day after the terrorist attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 Standard & Poor's fell by 4.9 percent and fell overall by 11.6 percent. The collapse of the market after the terrorist attacks decreases with each attack made. In March 2004, S & P 500 fell by 1.5 percent after the terrorist attacks in Madrid. The decrease was then 0.8 percent in July 2005 after terrorist attacks on London.
Markets seem to fall quickly after the attacks are made out but recovered very quickly.

I decided to interview Björn Berg Gunnarsson because i really like what he, VÍB and Ungir fjárfestar are doing these days. They are providing business lectures for people, free. Unfortunatly we don´t get any education about economics in our school system apart from a few elective courses in economics and business. And they understand that young people need to know where our money goes, comes from and so on.
Young people show amazing interest in these lectures and thousands of people have attended lectures from them. Me myself attended a lecture called “hvernig á að byrja að fjárfesta?” Or “How to start investing?” So many people showed up we had to stand the whole time. And I think that’s amazing to teenagers realize the importance of having good financial literacy.Interview with Björn Berg - Summary
“Pension savings is such a profitable investment it is doubtful that anyone can afford to let him go.” – Björn Berg Gunnarsson
I found the answers from Björn Berg Gunnarsson very interesting and i happen to agree with almost everything he says. Björn says there´s a lack of financial education in schools in Iceland and since things don´t seem to be changing it is their and parent´s responsibility to give our people good, free and easily accessible educational value for our youth to access themselves as for our parents. Björn talks about Ungir Fjárfestar, they have managed to offer great educational value on the web. The result of that being increased interest in Investing and knowing what to do with their money. Many people think they can´t start investing because they don´t have the money. According to Björn, yes you do need some funds to start but all employees should invest. Atleast in the form of pension savings. Björn doesn´t hide his love of pension savings he says that if there are financial difficulties, very serious and may be pointed out that pension savings are regulated property to bankruptcy and the only thing that can not be taken of bankrupt people.
Bottom line is, start investing. You don´t have to go big right away, start with pension savings and go with the flow from there. Björn recommends for anyone doubtful of investing to go and see one of these lectures or go meet up with a consultant and look at their possibilities.

Does a good attendance at the lectures you have held lately surprise you?
Do you think young people are more interested in investing and to learn about investment than before? If so, what could be the explanation?
Is there an equal attendance between men and women in educational lectures on your behalf?
Can anyone start investing?
Do you recommend investing for people in financial difficulties?
Ekki vera of bjartsýnn né of svartsýnn.
Vertu vakandi. Markaðaðirnir geta breyst snögglega og að færa allar þínar fjárfestingar í eina eign er áhættusamt. Þú verður að meta valkostina sem þú hefur. Sem gæti þýtt að fá gullkorn frá einhverjum sem þú treystir.
Sjálfsöruggir fjárfestar hafa langtíma áætlun sem þeir fylgja, þeir vinna heimavinnuna sína, láta ekki tilfinningar hafa áhrif á sig eins og ótta og græðgi og þeir ná langt.

Lessons in business from prison
I chose this one because i thought it was very interesting. How can you learn something in prison that you could use in business.
This guy, Jeff Smith spent one year in federal prison. He explains 95% of the guys he was locked up with had been drug dealers. He also talks about the "hustle" that takes place. Some which are legal and the ones that definitely aren't. The riskier it is you're selling. The more profitable it is. Prisoners learn things in prison that can help them when they are released. But they get little as no help, they have little hope when they get out. And even some states don't have laws against discrimination of people with a background.

What it takes to be a great leader
This one i feel could help me and i really wanted to see this one. I feel i could use the information i got from this lecture in life.
Roselinde Torres talks about the image of a leader in the beginning, the superhero that stands, watches the others and commands. Many companies fail to produce great leaders. What are the great leaders doing different?
Leaders have to think about the time they are spending on specific things. Is it worth it?
Great leaders shape their future but don't react to it.
Your capacity to develop relationships with people that are completely different than you. Great leaders understand that having a diversive network is always better.
They dare to be different. Think differently.

Dare to disagree
The title in genius. This lecture is all about people always avoiding conflict. I chose this one because i totally agree with the speaker.
Margaret Heffernan explains how successful partners have to dare to disagree and express their feelings and not avoiding conflict. Get your point across the table. To create conflict you have to have energy and passion. This is something many people are not willing to do and be engaged with. But maybe that separates the successful from the unsuccessful.
