Last Day of School - May 25
We continue our tradition of the last day (May 25) of school being a half day. Students will be dismissed at 12:20 pm with the intent that buses exit the parking lot at 12:25 pm. Parent pick-up will begin at 12:15 pm. Please note we will not serve breakfast on May 25. If your child is not normally parent pick-up, but will be on the last day, we must have a written note sent in with your child in the morning. Please make sure that the person picking up your student is on his/her Authorized Release and brings his/her ID.
Families--Thank you for your incredible support this year! We hope you enjoy summer and make wonderful memories. To our fifth grade students and families, you will be missed. We wish you all the best at JMMS! We know you will represent Amherst in the best way possible. To our families relocating, best of luck to you in your new journey. To our students returning in August, we look forward to having you back with us at Amherst for another exciting school year. Thank you again for your partnership this year.

All medications must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Students are not permitted to take medication home on the bus except students with self-carry orders for epi-pens and asthma inhalers. Any medication not picked up by June 2 will be disposed of. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the school nurse at 330-834-4652.
Devices G3, G4, G5
Students completing grades 3, 4, and 5 who will be enrolled in Jackson Local during the 23-24 school year will bring home their devices, cases, and chargers for the summer. Please help your child keep track of these materials. As a rule of thumb, the computer should ALWAYS stay in its case.
Student ID Badges
K-5 students will turn in their ID badges on the last day of school. Students will then receive them at the beginning of next year.
Summer is Coming
It is hard to believe that we are in the final stretch of the school year and summer is on its way. What are your children planning to do this summer? Here is a list of resources to get you started. There are links to family friendly events, sports, camps, and activities in our area. We will continue to add to this list as opportunities become available. In addition, here is a list of other local resources. If your child would benefit from a summer program, and it is not affordable for your family, please don’t hesitate to contact our Family Support Specialist , Gwen Renaldo (330-837-3501 x1769), to see if there is assistance available.
You can view your child’s grades for the fourth nine weeks in the Home Access Center (HAC) on Friday, May 26, 2023. If you have not created a HAC account, please use these directions to create one. If you have already created an account, but you are unsure of your login credentials, please click the "Forgot My Username or Password" link in the HAC.
The Jackson Local School District believes in partnering with parents and providing them with resources to help navigate the world of technology, games, and social media. While advances in technology have many great rewards, there is also the potential for harm. Since December, we have provided a resource and hope more parents and students, as appropriate by age, will take advantage of this.
We have partnered with SmartSocial.com for its on-demand courses for parents and students. The SmartSocial resources cover a wide range of digital and social media topics. We are providing a parent subscription package to these resources to help you learn how to navigate the negative (and positive) parts of social media with your students. Summer Library Opportunities
The Jackson elementary libraries have partnered with the Stark County Library to offer our families a summer fun program. We will have STEM kits and read alouds with visits from the bookmobile at Amherst in their parking lot every Tuesday in June. All elementary-age students and their families are welcome to attend.
From May 30-June 2, Strausser Elementary will host Camp Invention. This is for all Jackson Local students who will enter 1st-6th grades in the 23-24 year. For more information, please see this flyer.
