St. Lawrence Every Friday Note
November 19, 2021
Weekly Update!
I am not sure if there will be an Every Friday Note next week on account of the shortened week, but please be on the lookout for a special announcement regarding the Family Handbook. An amendment to the handbook is going through the approval process and will be communicated to you when it is approved.
Also, mark your calendars for December 15th at 6:30 PM for the school Christmas Concert "The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols". Our music teacher will be sending out information for you as early as next week.
Water bottles are allowed at St. Lawrence. Please send a reusable water bottle with your child. Many students come to the office asking for cups of water, we do not always have them though. Additionally, they can become very messy in the classroom. With the technology that is at their workspace, it is safer to have a bottle. Thank you for your support on this.
Thanksgiving Traditions
In continuing with learning about Thanksgiving traditions, Mrs. Thomas shared with us that she celebrates with 2 different sides of her family. The white side of her family serves roast ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, roasted asparagus, cherry pie, and stuffing. Her Mexican side of the family serves empanadas, arroz con pollo y mole sauce, chicken tamales, churros, pan dulce, and ice cream.
Food Drive Information
Every class will be dressed down for Monday and Tuesday. The classrooms that will be heading to the bowling alley on Tuesday morning are 1st grade, 5th grade, and 7th grade!

Attendance/Mass Policy
A note to this. If you are late arriving on a Wednesday or Friday, which are our scheduled school mass days, please take your child to the church prior to 9:15 am. Mass is a special opportunity to spend time twice a week with Jesus in worship. It is a part of our school day and one of the truly special opportunities that students enrolled in a Catholic school get to participate in that they would not be able to otherwise. This is considered part of our curriculum. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is in school to be able to be a part of this time.
Covid 19 Updates
For the week of November 13- November 19:
Confirmed Positive Results: 0
Quarantined students: 0
The governor passed an executive order stating that close contacts who have been exposed to a positive Covid-19 case at school will only need to quarantine if they are experiencing symptoms.
School Lunch Box
School meal programs nationwide are experiencing many of the same supply chain issues that have impacted restaurants and grocery stores throughout the pandemic. Our school nutrition team is committed to ensuring students have access to healthy meals each school day. Just as families had to make substitutions on grocery lists last year, St. Lawrence may have to make some last-minute changes to our regular menus, based on availability. We hope parents and students will be patient as we sort through these supply chain issues, particularly with breakfast items such as cereal. PBJ Uncrustables are not available either. The upside? Ingredients for our many scratch prepared foods are more readily available and we've been trying new recipes weekly. We remain committed to providing nutritious and delicious meals so that students are ready to learn!
