What Pop Latino Music is...
Pop Latino is a name of a Latin music genre. It’s referred to Pop Latino because it originated from the Latin Americas, and is influenced by popular music. It is played in any Spanish speaking country, but primarily in the Latin Americas is the most common. In today’s Pop Latino music, Shakira and Ricky Martin are most popularly associated with this genre of music. Back in the 60s and 70s, when this genre of music originated, singers such as Sergio Mendes, Julio Iglesias, or Roberto Carlos were most often associated with Pop Latino.
Shakira is a very influential Pop Latino artist.
Here, in Latin America, is where a lot of Pop Latino music originated from.

History of Pop Latino Music
Pop Latino music, primarily originated in the 1960s and the 1970s in the Latin Americas. This music genre began when Spanish singers began to explore other music genres from other countries. Singers began to take their Latin music style and combine it with music styles in other countries, such as America. In the 1980s and 1990s, Pop Latino started traveling to the United States, and became popular there. Music influences of other countries were music styles from Texas, and singers like Jennifer Lopez was also a large musical influence.

Characteristics of Genre
Pop Latino is popularly referred to as club and dance music. Pop Latino uses instruments that are similarly used in American music. In most Pop Latino songs, the voice is the most pronounced and important piece in the music. But, like American music, instruments such as drums, guitar, bongos, trumpets, bass, and keyboard are all typically present. In the 80s and 90s, when Pop Latino music began gaining influence and popularity, synthesizers and drums were often used. Pop Latino music is popular not only in the Latin Americas, but also in the United States and other countries worldwide.

The dances in Pop Latino music are very modern. They have heavy hip-hop influences.The characteristics of Pop Latino dances are all unique. Each dance is different, but they’re all very fluid with a lot of movements in the ab and hip area.

Pop Latino is most likely, associated in Latin America for those who don’t know the Pop Latino history, but it actually can be associated worldwide. Pop Latino is only going to get more popular, and definitely spread more throughout the United States.
