VIRTUAL STUDENT LEARNING SCHEDULE WEEK OF October 12th - October 16th
Dear parents & guardians,
It is an MCPS tradition to welcome parents and guardians to shadow students on October 12 to learn more about their daily experiences in school. At Argyle Magnet Middle School, we call this experience, “Crash the Class.”
The virtual experience this year has allowed us to re-invent this opportunity for our families. This year, in addition to joining your child in their regularly scheduled classes, we are inviting you to attend several sessions being held virtually throughout the day by a variety of Argyle staff members. You will find a chart below listing many of the topics that will be discussed. The full selection of sessions, the times and meeting links will be posted on the front page of our website, argylems.org. Please also find the Virtual Classroom Etiquette (Dos & Don'ts) at the bottom of this document. This final information is intended to support the regular classroom environment on the day of visits and allow parents to attend as an observer during this experience.
The day begins at 8:15 am with the principal's address.
Meeting ID: 837 2804 7302 | Passcode: ams
The middle school interscholastic athletics program is available for students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade and consists of three virtual sports seasons, including, winter (basketball), and spring (soccer). The middle school virtual athletic seasons consists of two student-athlete and coach engagement sessions per week, for a total of six engagement sessions over the course of approximately three to four weeks. The fall virtual season is scheduled to occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays after-school, beginning on Tuesday, October 26, 2020, and finishing on Thursday, November 20, 2020.
All students participating in the winter virtual season, as part of the MCPS interscholastic athletics program, must complete the online registration process. Registration is done electronically through the Argyle Athletics Registration form Argyle Magnet Middle School Athletics, which is also posted on the school’s website. Students and parents/guardians who have difficulty with registration should contact Eric Franklin at Eric_S_Franklin@mcpsmd.org.
We are excited to provide your student with the greatest education-based virtual athletics season during such unprecedented times.

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
The Board of Education has proclaimed Tuesday, September 15 to Thursday, October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month. Throughout the month, MCPS schools will be celebrating the unique culture and traditions of students, teachers, staff, and community members who trace their roots to Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries in North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
Hispanics are the fastest growing ethnic group in MCPS, with 32 percent of the student population, representing 21 Spanish-speaking countries. We want all MCPS students, parents/guardians, and staff to celebrate with us! Share a picture that represents your Hispanic heritage and MCPS may feature it in a virtual gallery. E-mail pictures to email@example.com. Watch this video for more information.
