Back To School Night

It was great to see such an excellent turn out to last night's Back To School Night. I was really encouraged by the supportive community present in 1D. It genuinely makes an enormous difference to the running of the class, and the teaching of your children, to know that you are so supportive of our educational partnership.

A few details were missing from last night's presentation, as I was unable to see my notes in presentation format. The presentation is available here. Please see the text boxes below the slides for my additional notes.

New Dismissal Procedures

The Lower and Upper Elementary Divisions will be implementing a new location for student dismissal starting on Sunday, September 13th.

Our pre-k students will continue to dismiss as usual at the picnic tables at gate 5.

Kindergarten to Grade 5

Students will have designated areas in the elementary cafeteria. There will be signs posted as to where each grade level’s gathering areas will be.

We ask that all parents walk around the Lower Elementary building to access the cafeteria rather than through the hallways. The gates for parents will open at 2:45 pm and the cafeteria will provide a cooler place for you to wait. Occasionally, we do hold events for students in the cafeteria at the end of the day. If this is the case we would kindly request that you use the shaded area at the blue basketball courts to wait until 3pm dismissal.

Please note that all ASA’s will continue to dismiss at gate 5.

Class photos

Professional photos of our class will be taken on Sunday. These will be available for purchase at a later date, and will feature in the school's Year Book. Please have your children dressed appropriately for these photos on Sunday.

NVS Passwords

An update from Lower Elementary IT services

For security reasons and for convenience, the password to access your NVS page has been changed to the same one you use for Powerschool. We apologize for not being able to do this before school started but there were some technical difficulties. If you have any problems with logging on, or any questions, please email Phil Blacklock the LES IT Co-ordinator at, or phone 44991140 between 8am and 3pm.

This week we will look at listening to reading and ways to reread a book:

  • capitalization

We are continuing to work on addition problems in class:

  • Put together, add on, change unknown
  • Count on up to three more
  • Count on up to three more using my fingers
  • Count on to find the missing addend
