Math
K-1 Math Assessments:
o The state is in the process of finalizing the Mid-Year Summative Math Assessment for grades K-1. Once finalized, it will be sent to the Print Shop for printing and delivery to schools. Year-round schools will receive their materials no later than November 24th.
o As a resource, the assessments from the 2013-2014 school year will be posted to CMAPP soon. Teachers in K-2 can use these as common assessments throughout the year if needed

Fraction Foundations -Begins September 22
This FREE eight-week course will help you teach fractions concepts and skills more effectively by increasing your understanding of students’ thinking and implementing research-based approaches in the classroom. Designed for elementary teachers, math coaches and teacher educators, this course will address rigorous curriculum standards for fractions, whether from the Common Core State Standards or from other up-to-date standards.

Close Reading: What, Why, When and How
Participants will:
- understand the definition of close reading
- have a deeper understanding of why students would engage in close reading
- understand when to apply close reading to literary and informational texts
- practice close reading with grade level literary and content text
