21st Century Skills
Our instructional program embeds the 4 C’s of the 21st Century Skills in the daily school experience.
*Communication: Sharing thoughts, questions, ideas and solutions.
*Collaboration: Working together to reach a goal.
*Critical Thinking: Looking at problems in a new way and linking learning across the disciplines.
*Creativity: Trying new approaches to get things done.
*Student Opportunity for Advanced Rigor
*Identify students achieving above grade level in math and reading
*Adjust pacing to differentiate curriculum and instruction
*Project based learning to extend concepts and add academic rigor
PLPs - Personalized Learning Plans
*Each child has a data driven Personal Learning Plan that is created in cooperation with the parent, student (when applicable) and includes individual goals and objectives in the areas of academics, life and career skills and 21st century skills.
*Teachers are trained to use ongoing formative data to plan and teach to meet the learning needs of each child.
*PLPs are sent out mid-trimester.
Mount Saint Helens
A two-night overnight field trip spent at Cispus Learning Center. Scheduled for October 19-21, 2016. One parent MUST attend.
Students learn how to make compost and help with duties in the garden.
Wing Luke Museum and International District
Students are taken on a tour of the International District, finished off with an Asian style meal.

- Technology is plentiful!
- Students type final drafts of writing pieces.
- Use for research projects.
- Airplay presentations.
- This year, we have decided to grow rosemary to make flavored oils. This ties in to our last Science FOSS unit, Structures of Life.
- We also have two units on Water, so we will be making rain chains!
*Weekly newsletters are sent home every Friday via email.
*I respond to emails same school day.
*Daily academic goals and homework are listed in your child's planner each day.
