Minimum Wage
Cecilia Aureoles
What is minimum wage you may ask? Well minimum wage is the minimum amount of money an employer can pay you for working. As of July 24, 2009, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. Each state has its own minimum wage law and only five states have no minimum wage law. A good thing about minimum wage is that it provides incentive for unskilled and unemployed workers. A bad thing about minimum wage is that it is applied inconsistently because each state has its own law. For example, Washington's minimum wage is higher than Georgia's minimum wage and South Carolina has no minimum wage. Minimum wage impacts the country because people think it is a good thing and others think it is not. People believe it should be higher and some believe that we shouldn't have a minimum wage law at all.
