Leal Elementary's Digital Digest for October 2018

First Friday (10/5)

Our focus on October 5th will be social awareness. Social awareness gives you the ability to understand and respond to the needs of others. With this in mind our “First Friday” for October will be focused on developing social awareness and supporting those who may be feeling isolated. During class all students will do a lesson with their teacher about what it looks like when someone is isolated and how we, as a community, can work to be inclusive and connect with our peers. At lunch students will be able to sit at any lunch table of their choosing and will be encouraged to have lunch with someone new. As a sign of solidarity we are going to encourage students to wear something yellow as it is the color representing friendship. To view a sample of the lessons teachers will be using throughout the year for First Fridays, click here. Teachers will be modifying lessons as needed to suit the needs of their class. In addition to the lessons, here are some videos of stories teachers may share with their class. Facilities Campus Tours (10/9)

We've been fielding questions from quite a few of our community members regarding the specific things Measure BB would do for Leal should it pass. Though more information is coming your way, sometimes the best way to understand something is to see it in person. With that in mind, I would like to invite all who are interested in physically seeing what would be improved to join us on October 9th for a quick 30 minute tour. We will be offering 3 different times (8:15, 10:15 and 1:45) to try to accommodate as many schedules as possible. If you would like to participate, simply gather near the office at those times. We will start the tours promptly at the designated times to honor everyone's schedules.

PTA Family Dinner Night (10/9)

Please join us at McDonald's for this REALLY fun dinner night. There will be teachers and staff delivering orders to your table throughout the evening and it is a great time to connect with other parents while the kids go wild in the play structure. Event is from 4-8PM at the La Palma location (South & Carmenita).
