A New Read!! RISK. FAIL. RISE.
"You might be tempted to hand over your decision-making to a packaged program or curriculum or something you purchased from another teacher online. You might be tempted to just do exactly what has been done for the last five, ten, thirty years, even if you know there is undoubtedly more current and successful approaches to try. Many teachers walk into classrooms virtually frozen from concern of making mistakes. This not only reduces your ability to innovate and be responsive to your current students' needs, it also models something quite dangerous to students—that safe and possibly irrelevant work is better than risky, relevant (and likely messy) work." -M. Colleen Cruz
Happy "Breaks-Giving"!
As we near the Thanksgiving holiday, you are undoubtedly getting as much accomplished as possible while your students are becoming as anxious as possible. I'd love to give you a small 20-25 minute teaching break before the holiday break and read your students a book, implement a brief mini lesson, or do an activity with them. Sign up for an available time here!
A Glimpse Into HISD Classrooms
3rd Grade teachers are setting aside time each day to promote authentic writing in their classrooms. Students are SO enjoying the act of implementing true writing craft in the midst of writing workshop!
