Kristen Marstaller

Ms. Marstaller has worked in Art Education as a teacher, an an administrator, and author of art textbooks. She was an Art Teacher for 16.5 years in elementary art classrooms and for 8 summers at a GT camp teaching GT art students K - 12th grade. Ms. Marstaller has a BFA, and a MEd. Curriculum & Instruction. For the past 23.5 yrs. she has served as Art Coordinator for AISD and is the author of two national art textbooks.

Emma Lea Mayton

Ms. Mayton taught art at Casis, Dill, Blanton and Travis Heights elementaries in AISD. She was the AISD Elementary Art Coordinator from 1975-86, AISD Adopt-A-School Coordinator from 1986-92, and Art Teacher at Davis Elementary 1992-2001. She taught visual arts education at UT, Huston-Tillotson and Concordia University. She is a co-author of 4 state-adopted art textbooks for elementary and middle school levels. After retiring from AISD, she worked for five years as an art consultant for Davis Publications, the premier publisher of visual arts materials in the US since 1901. Her favorite media are ceramics and watercolor. Ms. Mayton loves art history and to travel. She has visited more than 40 countries!

Andrea Mellard

Ms. Mellard is a curator and educator for the art museum The Contemporary Austin. The museum has a gallery downtown and a park for sculpture and nature at Laguna Gloria on the lake. She and her staff at the museum plan field trips, art-making activities, music concerts, performances, films, and talks by artists for students, teens, families, and adults to enjoy. She even got artists to design a miniature golf course! She uses art at the museum to help people look, think, talk, listen, play and make together. She has 14 years of museum experience and a M.A. degree in American Studies from The University of Texas.

JaHanna Martinez

Ms. Martinez is a Fashion Designer. She earned a BFA from Parsons School of Design, and worked in the fashion Industry in New York for 20 years. She has had her own business for over 10 years.

Alana Lilie

Ms. Lilie is a self-taught jewelry designer. She sells her designs at shows and online at She started making jewelry as a young girl working with stringing beads and tying knots. After the birth of her first daughter (9 years ago), she decided to pursue learning how to make different types of jewelry using different mediums such as Precious Metal Clay (PMC), soldering and fusing fine silver with a torch.

Monty Goulet

Monty Goulet is a tech savvy entrepreneur with 5 years in the video game space and 10 years in the audio space, he is currently located in Austin, Texas. He is a graduate of Loyola University with degrees in Music Performance, Music Industry and Music Technology. He is the recipient of the Outstanding Music Technology Student award from the university. He started his career as a saxophone player back in 2001, and worked on electro-acoustic music for many years. He began his hard road into video games back in 2007 when he started working as a DJ for Crescent City Radio. He later became Chief Engineer of the station. In 2008, he became the president of Vital Sounds Recording He then went on to work for MunckMix, a live recording studio working on projects from New Orleans Jazz Fest Live. Some have even been nominated and won Grammy’s. He also helped develop multiple programs for electro-acoustic music that have since been used in multiple ensembles.

After his time in New Orleans, he went to work at Nintendo on Donkey Kong Country Returns (over 5 Million sold). After his first experience in game audio, he was contracted at the end of 2011, to work on an application for Jimmie “JJ” Walker of the TV Show, “Good Times” which Jimmie later premiered on David Letterman, this past June. The app was called Jimmie Walker Official App.

In June 2012, Monty founded his own independent game studio, Maestro Interactive Games, he has been the Creative Lead and Audio Director ever since. The studio is host to a number of community activities such as developer meet ups, game jams, and an incubator. They are currently developing a new title for the upcoming Nintendo system called Luna’s Tale.

Julie Kennedy

Ms. Kennedy started designing in 1992. In 1998, she decided to become a freelancer and has been running her own business ever since. She loves print design and photo editing. She designs brochures, logos, business cards, flyers, banners… pretty much anything that can be printed. She also edits photos and does some web design.

Grace Borengasser

Ms. Borengasser has a BFA in Studio Art from The University of Texas at Austin. She has worked 7 years full time as a Graphic Designer, and 3 years as freelance Graphic Designer. She is a Fine Artist whose paintings have been exhibited in multiple art shows. She has worked as a muralist for a community fence project in Austin, TX and on several kid's projects as well.

Katt Cekaj

Ms. Cekaj is a Hairstylist... She is licensed by the State of Texas to cut, color, & style hair. Her work is used in Runway, Photoshoots, and Competions. She was Cosmetologist of the year at her school, in 2014 & went on to become a National Business Education Finalist. Ms. Cekaj has 2 Sassoon Certifications and is 1 of 5 DryCut Specialist in Austin, Tx. She is currently head assistant at Benjamin Beau Salon.

Curtis Roberts

Mr. Roberts has a Bachelor of Architecture from UT and owns an experiential graphic design firm, fd2s. His firm’s work combines aspects of architecture, graphic design, information design, exhibit design, and environmental graphic design.

Jennifer Cartlidge

Ms. Cartlidge earned an Interior Design, BS in 1996 from the University of Texas at Austin. She is state Registered Interior Designer #9996. She has 19 years experience in the commercial furnishings industry. Her responsibilities include: space planning, furniture design and specifications, fabric and finish selections, etc. Graphic Software she utilizes: Autocad, and 20-20 Visual Impressions Rendering.

Kim Truss

Ms. Truss has an Interior Decorator/Merchandising degree and started her decorating business after having kids to have a flexible work schedule.

Nicholas Rizzo

Mr. Rizzo does fine art architectural photography. Visit to see more. Also, motion picture and design work are a part of his work as well but are more commercial in nature.

Tommy Cowan

Mr. Cowan has both a BA and a MA in architecture. He taught for two years at the University of Texas. He is a friend of Will Davis and and the proud architect of the Davis Elementary school, as well as several other AISD schools. Tommy Cowan, FAIA, retired from Graeber Simmons & Cowan in 2009, where he was a founding principal and managing partner of the 50-person Austin architecture firm. He is a Texas Architects Lifetime Achievement medalist, and an AIA Fellow.

An active community supporter and fundraiser, Mr. Cowan's passion is supporting the architecture profession, the arts, and education. He is a long time member of the Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club and a proud McCallum High alumni, class of '63.

Mr. Cowan is a native born Austinite, and, together with his wife Ann, has two children and four grandchildren.

Walter Edwards

Mr. Edwards designs homes in and around the Austin Area. He designed the Extreme Makeover home just down the street from Davis. He is married to Mrs. Edwards our PE coach!

Michelle Manning

Ms. Manning has a degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas and is self taught in web design and basic graphic design. She created the website for The Tile Guy and has been helping with the Davis Elementary's web design for many years. Recently she used WordPress to update the NWA Kickball's website.

Danielle Pothoff

Ms. Pothoff is a Software Engineer. She has a Management Information Systems degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She worked for the Principal Financial Group in Des Moines Iowa until moving to TX in 2001. She is the Yearbook Chair at Davis and has used her programming knowledge to create several yearbooks for Davis.

Angie Phillips

Ms. Phillips is a self taught cake, cupcake and cookie baker and designer. She has been selling for 6 years and works out of her home. You can see her work at

Vicki Wostal

Ms. Wostal is a Cake Decorator and Makeup Artist. She has been selling cakes professionally for almost 2 years and hopes to open her own bakery within the next 2 years. She is self taught and gains experience with each cake! She is also a self taught Makeup Artist. She offers makeup services to photographers as well as weddings. Her skills include face and body paint.

Alexis Streber

Alexis started her career in the art world as the Director of the Robert Klein Gallery in Boston, MA. She was offered the position immediately after graduating form Smith College in 1995, with a BA in Art History. For five years she was an active member of the Boston Art Dealers Association and spent most of her waking hours at the gallery. She developed relationships with local artists, private collectors, museum curators and art consultants. She then decided to accept a position at the world-renowned Pace/MacGill Gallery in New York City, where she was exposed to the most valuable fine-art photography on the market. She worked with famous artists such as Chuck Close, Robert Rauschenberg, Irving Penn, William Wegman, Emmet Gowin, Jim Dine and Harry Callahan. She was inspired daily by the artists and exquisite prints they created. She now lives in Austin with her husband and two kids, and enjoys sharing her love of art with her family and friends!

Laura Patterson

Ms. Patterson has worked in Art galleries and teaching preschool art to young children. In working in the Art gallery she was able to meet the artists and select framing, also prepare for openings (art shows) and learn about lighting and sales of art. When she taught preschool art, she would give the children different materials, such as paints, and pastels, and have them create all kinds of different , beautiful pictures!

Kate Svedersky

Ms. Svedersky worked as a graphic designer for Fox News Channel in NYC and is currently a portrait photographer. She earned a BA in photography from Sam Houston State back in 1992--before digital photography & Photoshop! She has worked for several photographers since then, as well as owning her own portrait business, Photographers of Westlake, since 2010.
She lived in New York City from 2000-2003 and worked at Fox News Channel as an Executive assistant and then as a graphic designer. She was fortunate to start off there with a boss who let her train with the graphics department during her own time, and when a job opened up in that department she moved over there. She still uses the skills she learned as a graphic designer to edit photos and create marketing materials for her current business.

Hanni Wrencher

Ms. Wrencher is a photographer who is currently working on her degree. She takes lots of portraits for seniors, kids, families, etc., and does photo editing in light room and photoshop.
