Honoring September 11th at Columbia Central Jr./Sr. High School

Columbia Central Jr./Sr. High School took time to come together as a school community to honor our nation on the 16th anniversary of September 11th. Students and staff participated in a moment of silence at the flagpole. It was a powerful message of unity and honor.

9/27-National Honor Society Induction, CCHS Auditorium, 7 PM (11th & 12th grade)

10/6-Homecoming, Varsity Football vs. Erie Mason, 7 PM

10/7-Homecoming Dance, time to be announced

10/10-Parent Night, CCHS Auditorium, 6: 30 PM (Info on college prep, testing out, dual enrollment, etc.)

10/10-9th-12th grade Parent Teacher Conferences, 5-8 PM, full day of school for students

10/11-7th & 8th grade Parent Teacher Conferences, 5-8 PM, full day of school for students

10/11-PSAT/National Merit Qualifier Test (10th & 11th grades)

10/11-PSAT 9th grade

10/20-End of first marking period

10/23-No school for students, professional development for staff

Senior Information

There was a meeting held last week providing students with information regarding the senior trip to New York City. Listed below is some important information for students and parents:

Dates-April 9-13

Cost-$685 per student

Deposit 1-$200 due on 10/15/17

IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND, a $50 deposit will need to be made to Mrs. Van Wagnen to hold your spot. Please turn this in by September 21st.

Fall Mini Musical-Peter Pan

Auditions for the Fall Musical will be held on September 19th and 20th, beginning at 6:30 PM, in the choir room. Students should have a song and monologue prepared, although it does not need to be memorized. Contact Mrs. Carlson at deborah.carlson@myeagles.org with any questions.

National Honor Society

The National Honors Society visited MIS and placed 2,996 American flags in the ground to commemorate each victim who died in the 9/11 attacks. The flags will be displayed all weekend during the Spirit of America Blood Drive.


Since its inception in 2002, the Spirit of America Blood Drive has collected more than 10,709 blood products, potentially helping to save more than 32,127 lives. In 2016 alone 510 units were collected. Those donations alone can potentially save 1,530 lives. (Each unit can be transfused to up to three people.)

Leadership Class

Thank you to our Leadership class and National Honor Society students for taking time to raise funds to help victims of Hurricane Harvey. Their efforts raised over $1500 in funds, Thank you to the Brooklyn Country Market for donating $1000 to the cause as well!

Mr. Parkinson

Mr. Parkinson is our new technology and history teacher. He is the freshman class and Business Professionals of America (BPA) advisor. Mr. Parksinson also enjoys assisting the varsity football team with film. He is a graduate of Western Michigan University. His hobbies include deer hunting, fishing and golfing. Please join us in welcoming him to the Columbia School District family.
