Student Assistance Program
The last week of October we celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign observed annually in October in the United States. It began as a tribute to fallen DEA special agent Enrique Camerena in 1985. Through the observation, we celebrate living a drug-free life. This year’s theme is “Drug-Free looks like Me” and RAYSAC is sponsoring a student contest with cash prizes for the winning submissions. Encourage your students to get creative and submit an entry. More details can be found here
October 23rd will be the semi-annual DEA prescription drug take-back event. There will be 2 sites in Botetourt for citizens to turn in their expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Check RAYSAC.org for the October drop-off locations.
