Social studies
We started our reading phase and we are now focused on identifying the parts of the book and some other features such as: cover (portada/tapa), back (contraportada), title, author, illustration, illustrator, page, accent (tildes), exclamation and interrogative signs.
In English Class-
Integrated Unit of Study: Science- This week we are starting our reading phase of our integrated unit. Over the next few weeks we will be working on main topics of a text, exploring question words to ask and answer questions in a text, as well as participate in conversations about text.
Phonics- We are in full swing with our phonics program! We also started Heggerty, which is all done aloud whole group. All our friends are doing a great job with both.
Math- We are continuing our long journey of numeracy. We will begin with counting objects and recording how many there are.
Field Trips....coming soon!
As a chaperone on a field trip you could be responsible for your student and 2-3 other students, follow a scheduled provided by the teachers, keep all students safe as well as communicate any emergencies to staff. Chatham County Schools does ask that those who are chaperoning leave distractions to a minimum, we ask that younger siblings are left at home. We would hate to have something happen to one of our students because a chaperone is distracted by a non-student. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to your students homeroom teacher.

The Power of One!
From the PTA...
Join our GroupMe
We invite all parents at our school to join our North Chatham Elementary PTA GroupMe and contribute to a meaningful conversation that furthers the mission of advocating for every child.
Volunteer at the Cole Park PTA Thrift Shop!
The Thrift Shop program is the LARGEST fundraiser for our school, accounting for 40% of our budget.
Every Chatham County school has the opportunity to earn $15,000 to $80,000 for the year.
Your child’s teacher gets $4 for every hour you volunteered to use in their classroom to enhance your child's learning experience.
All profits from the Chatham PTA Thrift Shops are given back to the Chatham County Public Schools PTAs to be used for things like supplies, field trips and educational materials.
Plus, Volunteers receive a discount on items purchased that evening.
How Does the PTA Earn Money from the PTA Thrift Store?
Our PTA earns money through volunteer hours spent "elfing" at the store. "Eling" means hanging donations, cleaning the store, organizing displays, etc. It's easy and fun!
The PTA Thrift Shop has paid staff, but they could not operate and do all that they do without the help of the many volunteers. Parents, students and/or family members volunteer at the thrift shop and hours are recorded for the school and teacher they represent. At the end of June all participating Chatham County Schools get a share of the three Chatham PTA Thrift Shop's Profits, based on the number of volunteer hours each school worked at the Thrift Shop.
More volunteer hours = more money for our school.
Can't volunteer during these shifts but still want to help?
- Empty the NCE Drop Box. This earns NCE double time and includes travel time! The Dropbox is located by the car-rider lane and the key can be picked up in the NCE office. Transport donations to the Thrift Shop during business hours and sort (an employee will be happy to help you sort properly if it's your first time!).
- Volunteer independently during store hours. Call the store first to verify there is space available (919-969-9457). The Thrift Shop LOVES volunteers! In addition, when you volunteer you can purchase items at 50% off the day you volunteer this includes the volunteer sessions as well.
- DONATE! Items donated to the North Chatham drop box allows us to earn more money! Donating directly to the store is great, but donating to our box is even better! Too much stuff? Need someone to pick-up furniture? or a lot of items? Schedule a pick-up!
The PTA Thrift Shop is located at
