NEWS FROM THE HEADS

PAUL BEVIS

Well I hope you have managed to dry yourselves out from the drenching you would have received if you were at the Fete last Saturday. There rivers of water running through stalls, and flooding hard standing areas... but mud slides appeared, Junior Girls danced, Senior GIrl entrepreneurs sold, Sixth Form did --- well just about everything, and eventually the sun came out. Congratulations to the Junior Boys PTA for staging the event and huge thanks to staff, parents, students and pupils for your support, energy and sense of fun.

LEANNE BARLOW

“Take every chance, drop every fear and always reach for the stars!”

As we draw nearer to the end of the academic year, every class is still working hard in all of the lessons. The girls performed amazingly in the Summer Soiree on Tuesday and, although I was unfortunately unable to attend, I saw many videos and pictures of the event. Mr Bevis was astounded by the array of musical talent as was I.

SHEENA WILDING

The nursery classes have used a variety of techniques to create minibeasts this week such as using clay to create ladybirds, paper plates for bumble bees, paint and foam shapes to stamp pictures of insects and free painting to show their own interpretation of these little creatures.

SENIOR GIRLS Y10 GCSE CONTROLLED FRENCH SPEAKING EXAM

This is to take place during lesson time on Monday 4 July.


SENIOR GIRLS Y10 GERMAN CONTROLLED ASSESSMENT

Writing was today (Friday 1 July)! Frau Ing will speak to the girls in the week if they need to have another attempt at this. Speaking will be next Friday (8 July). Please ensure your daughter is properly prepared!!


JUNIOR GIRLS - JUDO TUESDAY 5 JULY - CANCELLED

Please note Judo has been cancelled on Tuesday due to the Senior Girls Summer Production.


END OF TERM

Junior Girls - reminder for PE kit to go home.

Senior Girls - all lockers to be emptied (items will be disposed of and padlocks cut if locker is not left open and empty). Girls also to ensure that PE kit is taken home.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES – Summer holiday (Mon 18 Jul to Fri 2 Sep)

Book by Fri 8 July for a guaranteed place in our Mini, Mid, Kool and Sport Xtra groups…. go to What’s On for more on activity highlights and exciting visitors. Children in year 3 and above can still enjoy a Golf Fun Day on Wed 3 August - with tri and street golf, as well as a visit to Huntswood Golf Club. Tuesday 5 July - drama club not on due to Seniors Summer Production


SENIOR GIRLS SUMMER PRODUCTION - Tuesday 5 July/Wednesday 6 July 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' 7.30pm - please reserve your seat for the show - we expect the performance to finish at 9.00pm

Sunday 3 July - Technical rehearsal 10am-2pm Main Hall - full drama blacks to be worn. Enter via the swimming pool entrance. Remember to bring drinks and snacks.

Tuesday 4 July - Dress rehearsal 1 (bring all make-up and costume)

Tuesday 5 July - Dress rehearsal 2 (bring all make-up and costume) 1st Performance 7.30pm (girls to be back into school for 6.45pm in costume)

Wednesday 6 July - No drama club after school/2nd Performance 7.30pm (girls to be back into school at 6.45pm in costume)

Girls Olympic Summer Reading Challenge

Which House will read the most books and win the Olympic Challenge? Help your House to win! Send a photograph of yourself reading a book to: Library-Staff@clairescourt.net with your name, class, location and the title of your book. There will be a prize for every entry and your photograph will be displayed on our Olympic board in September. Each House will have an Olympic Ring, plus one for staff.

Junior and Senior Girls’ Reading Panels

Do you like choosing new books? Would you like a say in which new fiction books are bought for the Senior and Junior Girls’ Libraries every term? The Summer Term Pupil Reading Panel will meet next week to discuss and judge the new books on offer and decide with the Librarians which books will be on our library shelves in September…
