Principal's Message:
Dear Weibel Families,
Happy New Year! I hope all the families had a wonderful, relaxing holiday season and wish everyone the best in 2022. I would like to thank everyone for wishing our Weibel staff a very warm Holiday season.
It certainly has been a very busy few weeks for us since we've been back. We so appreciate you keeping us informed as to the status of your child's health. Our school continues to be vigilant about following the CDC, county, and district protocols. COVID testing is available for students every Wednesday at Weibel in Room 32 from 7am-3pm.
Our students are currently working through the Great Kindness Challenge. I hope many students were able to show kindness in many varieties of ways. February is a jam-packed month with many activities and celebrations: Black History month, Groundhog Day, 100th day of school, Lunar New Years, Valentines Day, and President’s Day. Thank you to all our teachers and room parents/volunteers in efforts to keep all our activities running during these times.
Thank you,
Ms. Lee

QUARANTINE INDEPENDENT STUDY
Please contact our Weibel Office staff if you have questions.
We know that many of you have had to quarantine your student due to COVID symptoms. To ensure that we have continuity of instruction, and support students during this time, the district is offering short term and long term independent study options. Per Assembly Bill 130, students who are quarantined due to COVID symptoms and will be out of schools more than 3 days, will continue to receive educational opportunities through a short term independent study contract. When the school district requires a student to quarantine, a student/family will be given a packet of grade level work and a short term independent study contract to complete. When the student returns from the quarantine, the completed packet and independent study contract should be returned to the school site. In the case that a student has been quarantined for longer than 14 cumulative days, a student/family will be offered a long term independent study contract. Long term independent study will be conducted by a virtual teacher. The child will attend online classes daily for a check in and assignments will be given. Families will be given two links. One link for the Parent Agreement for the Long Term Independent Study and one link from the virtual teacher. The Parent Agreement is a form that must be filled out in order for your child to participate in long term independent study. We appreciate your compliance with completing both documents

COUNSELOR'S CORNER:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It was so wonderful to celebrate the Great Kindness Challenge at Weibel in January. The Great Kindness Challenge serves as a reminder for how to be kind to others, and the ripple effect of our kindness. Students engaged in several recess activities in addition to completing their kindness checklist.
My favorite activity was having the students write thank you notes acknowledging others' kindness, and writing a note to someone to tell them how amazing they are. Their faces were lit up with excitement just thinking about what they would write. Kind words, written or spoken, make a positive impact on the giver and the receiver. This year is again very stressful for our students as they work to gain knowledge in academics as well as catching up on missed social skills. We want to make sure that students know that they and their efforts are noticed. We want them to feel secure in who they are. It is easy to fall into the rut of what else they need to do or learn. Slowing down and noticing how amazing they are puts the bumps in the road into perspective. Consider bringing the kindness challenge into your own home and pick a few items that you will all work on doing to be kind to one another or the community. Help their roots of confidence grow deeper and stronger! Write a note to your child to help them feel seen and cared for. Or perhaps you have another way of making it known to your child that they are here and they are important. Volunteer in the community or donate to someone in need. The options are limitless (check out ideas here). Thank you for all that you do to support your child academically, socially and emotionally!
On a side note, Youth and Family Services of Fremont is hosting another round of parenting classes in the morning and evening, in both English and Spanish. Here are the flyers:
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything that I can do to help support your student or family!
