Airplane: Wright Brothers
It was the WRIGHT way to go!
Accurate Flying
The brothers found out that the three- axis control would let the pilot steer the airplane effectively. This method helped all kinds of air crafts with fixed wings. The Wright brothers wanted to figure out a reliable method to control the flying problem. Many other people before wanted to make big engines and they didn't have accurate data but the Wright brothers used a small home-built wind tunnel and got more accurate data than anyone before.
Developing Skills
The Wright Brothers gained skills mechanically from working inside their shop, it had printing presses, bicycles, motors, and other machinery. Since they worked with bicycles it helped them realize that an unstable vehicle could be controlled with balance. They developed skills as a pilot in 1903 when they conducted extensive glider tests. When building their first engine they needed a little help from a man named Charlie Taylor, he was very good with mechanical things.
