WO Weekly Staff Bulletin
Week of February 21st
CSTEM
How am I going to do more CSTEM when I have to do Iready?
One great way to do CSTEM outside of the STEAM lab is during math small group rotation.
- Option 1: Make a CSTEM, IREADY, and Versatile center. These three centers would allow students to access the three resources throughout the week. They can be your week long centers and each day students rotate once. By the end of the week they have accessed all three centers.
- Option 2: Must Do and May do list of activities when you are working with a small group
- Option 3: CSTEM chart of lessons to complete for the week. CSTEM is aligned to envision which makes it easy to identify a CSTEM lesson for student to practice on. Making a weekly list on the board or on chart paper for students to use as they progress through the lessons is a great way to give them ownership of their CSTEM learning. Students can be given a sticky note with their name and as they finish a CSTEM lesson they can move their sticky note to the next lesson. This would give you a visual of which students are actually on target to finishing their CSTEM weekly.
- Option 4: CSTEM Whole group- doing CSTEM as a whole group can help students understand the higher level vocabulary and learn how to navigate the grid and maker-space. You can also have a student leader guide a lesson for other students. This is a great example of AVID leadership:)
If you need help setting up a CSTEM routine, please let me know. I can help out especially in the afternoons except for Friday (Kinder CSTEM Time).

If it rains we will do the awards virtually only.
Anaheim Angles: Black History Month
The theme of the art contest is the story of Black baseball players in the game’s history, ranging from the Negro Leagues, to breaking the color barrier with Jackie Robinson and throughout today’s game. I have attached a flyer for the contest to share with your teachers and families. Submissions via a photo of the artwork are due via email by February 24th and full details of the contest can be found on the attached flyer. I’ve also included some links to student resources here:
- “Undeniable”, an original MLB animated series to honor the Negro Leagues
- Each of the 3 episodes are about 5 minutes long sharing different stories (2/1, 2/8 and 2/15)
- Clip of Episode 1, being released tomorrow
- Full episodes will be released on http://www.mlb.com/originals and the MLB app.
