WMS Weekly Warrior
Week of 6-1-21
Good afternoon Woodbury Middle School,
Weather aside, we hope you enjoyed your Memorial Day weekend. Thank you to Paula Paolino for providing the flags that are along our driveway entrance. It is a nice tribute to those who served our country. June is upon us, and it is as busy as ever. Field trips, dances, and other end-of-the-year events will fill our calendars. It will all move very quickly.
A separate letter with graduation details is being sent home today. Please look for this as it has details of the graduation ceremony being held on June 21. Eighth-grade students will also enjoy their dance on Thursday evening. The Heritage Hotel has both an indoor and outdoor area for students to enjoy, weather permitting. While indoors, students are required to have their masks on when they are not eating. Drop off for the dance is at 6:30 and pick up is at 9:00.
Congratulations to our Capstone students who competed in the state Expo Fest 2021. Many of our WMS students were very successful and brought home awards in many categories. Thanks to Mrs. Shuhart who led the students in this state-level event. This link will take you to a presentation of all the winners. Great job everyone!
Friday 6th and 7th-grade students will enjoy field trips to Quassy and Lake Compounce. If you have any questions regarding the field trips, please contact the grade level team leader. (Jspinner@ctreg14.org, firstname.lastname@example.org) Thanks to PIM for providing lunch for all students attending the trip.
Our Parents in the Middle are selling graduation signs for the class of 2021. Orders are due by June 3 to assure delivery. Please see the link for more information.
Today during Unified Arts (UA) classes, 6th and 7th-grade students had the opportunity to explore UA options for the 2021-2022 school. The PowerSchool portal for choosing UA classes for next year will be open from June 3-June 7. We ask that students have a conversation with their parents and then select courses for next year. Students who do not choose first choices and alternatives may be placed in classes based on size rather than preference. (Students need to pick four first choices and two alternates with no duplicates). Please see the link below, which has the course catalog and an introduction letter, and instructions.
Lastly, a huge shout out to our Alliance students and their advisors for planning an amazing day of spirit last Thursday. It was fantastic to see our kids enjoying fun games and competing against the teachers. Thanks to Mr. Brutting and Ms. Fitzpatrick for leading this group.
