Stop Fracking Now!
Tell Congress to Pass the FRAC Act
What is Fracking?
Fracking, also known as hydraulic fracturing, is a method of extracting natural gas and oil from deep within the earth. In order to obtain these natural resources, oil and gas companies use immense amounts of water combined with sand and toxic chemicals. These are then driven into thick hard rock to force the release of gas and oil.

Rally to End Fracking
- Fracking threatens the climate because too many greenhouse gas emissions result from the practice.
- The process threatens the world’s supply of freshwater so that there may eventually be less potable water available for human consumption.
- Fracking has created a controversy in the water industry with water companies selling water to the oil and gas industry. This commodification of water treats it as an industrial product rather than a natural resource that everyone has free use of.
- Fracking negatively impacts society’s overall health and wellness with negative affects including increased cancer risk and higher rates of birth defects.

New Jersey Teens Against Fracking
We are a teen grassroots environmental group located in central New Jersey. We strive to raise awareness and education about important issues that affect our planet and our future.
Hydraulic fracturing, commonly called fracking, is a drilling technique used for extracting oil or natural gas from deep underground. We do not believe it is a safe or economical source of energy. It pollutes the air, contributes to greenhouse gases, and harms our drinking water.
