St. Dominic School 2020-2021
Principal's Message
Dear St. Dominic Families,
Here at St. Dominic School, we have so much to be grateful for as we get closer to Thanksgiving. I am most thankful that our faith-based community continues to serve God and one another with joyful hearts.
Of course, all of our holiday celebrations this year will be overshadowed by the ongoing pandemic. You are likely struggling with how to spend time with loved ones safely. I know that my family has had ongoing discussions about our traditional family gatherings and how to do them differently this year.
Given that state and local health officials continue to say that this current spike in COVID cases is coming from small gatherings, I am asking you to carefully consider your plans and keep in mind that the continued operation of our in person schooling is 100% dependent on the actions of our school community. The teachers and I are hearing lots of student talk about traveling and gathering with friends and relatives. If those plans are not done safely, we may have to go remote between Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. Our staff is depending on you to help keep us all healthy and safe, and we appreciate your efforts.
I hope that each of you has a blessed Thanksgiving this year. Here's a little table blessing you might use to express thanks for all the gifts God has given us:
Thank you God for all that grows,
Thank you for the sky's rainbows,
Thank you for the stars that shine,
Thank you for these friends of mine,
Thank you for the moon and sun,
Thank you God for all you've done!
Amen
God bless you,
Mrs. Covington

Tomorrow's Leaders Start Here
Teachers, parents, and fellow students are encouraged to identify students who lead in worshipping, learning, serving, and connecting. These are students who go above and beyond by giving of their time, recognizing a need, and putting others ahead of themselves.
Serving Leaders
Ms. Robinson in the cafeteria recognized 8th graders Ryan Pick and Tristan Wilson as serving leaders for being helpful every single day last week by sweeping and cleaning.
Worship Leader
Mrs. Woconish recognized 1st grader Mary Reynolds as a worship leader. At the end of a long school day, Mary told Mrs. Woconish that she was thinking about her and the loss of her father, who we had prayed for that morning at Mass. Mrs. Woconish was touched by Mary's thoughtfulness.
Learning Leader
An adult chaperone on the 3rd grade field trip recognized Maya Hillmon as a learning leader. Maya was very attentive to the sister who was our guide... answering questions, paying attention, and was an overall great representative of our St. Dominic community.
Connecting Leader
Mrs. Slemc recognized 5th grader Graham Peck as a connecting leader for celebrating his classmates’ successes at solving a Rubik’s Cube. He created a display for them.
Learning and Serving Leader
Julie was also recognized by 6th grade substitute Mrs. Finnegan for being incredibly helpful to all her classmates.
Learning Leader
Mrs. Finnegan recognized 6th grader Alyssa Toler as a learning leader. Alyssa is willing to go the extra mile to achieve success. Her positive attitude, outstanding effort, and active listening skills have made her a role model in 6th grade.
Connecting Leader
Mrs. Finnegan recognized 6th grader Stella Price as a learning leader. Stella has a strong work ethic and takes responsibility for her learning. She perseveres until she understands new concepts and is always engaged in class.
Serving Leader
Miss Prosser recognized 4th grader Evan Smith as a serving leader for helping her carry bags of games to her classroom when he noticed her hands were full.

- Teachers will complete WISH LISTS so you can shop for those items and help build your child's classroom library.
- We will be selling $1.00 dress down passes and all money collected will be used to buy books for mothers and children staying at Providence House, an organization that supports Cleveland families in crisis.
Mark your calendars for the November 18 Chipotle dinner fundraiser. The flyer went home last week and will be sent again on the 17th. St. Dominic School's FEA will get 30% of all sales.
