After 5 years of Digging, Have we found the floor?
Perhaps you didn’t see the economic tsunami coming some years ago ( did anyone?) and perhaps within the seemingly unrelenting negative news you didn’t recently pick up on recent snippets of good news:
- Instead of exiting the Irish banking market like other scalded cats, South African bank Investec has announced that it is going to establish a mortgage bank in Ireland
- Consumer spending per capita which has been on a downward trend all the way to December 2012 has turned upward this year
- Unemployment peaked at 15.5% and is now down to 13.4%
- Residential Property Prices rose by 1.2% in the year to June.
- The recovery in the Irish manufacturing sector continued in August with PMI, output and new orders expanded further during the month. Meanwhile, signs of capacity pressures were evident as the rate of backlog depletion slowed and firms took on extra staff. Input costs rose for the first time in three months, but output prices were left broadly unchanged.
- The Troika plans to be out of here in early 2014.
Ask yourself -
- Is your business ready for the recovery ?
- Is it sufficiently staffed ?
- After a period of underspend (perhaps no spend) on CapEx do your business need to reinvest ?
- Will you have adequate working capital ?
